Domain confusion

Hello Guys:

I was searching for an exact match domain and only .info and .biz was available. Should I go for .info or add a letter or something to the domain and take a .com? Please give your opinions.

    Don't stress over getting an EMD, it's not going to make much difference, you can rank a non EMD just as easily.

    Getting the .com would be best so just go for a domain name that looks and sounds good, has at least part of the keyword in there.

    I get good results with exact match domains ... good enough that if an .info is available, I grab it. I have no trouble ranking info.

    You can take something like:
    my[KW].com
    [KW]tips.com
    [KW]planet.com
    [KW]x.com

    I would prefere .com or .net domains. Info domain isn't good if you will want to sell it later otherwise you can also grab those.

    If you are planning to sell the site, then a .info will reduce its value. If not, then a .info site is just as easy to rank as a top level domain.

    I've had both exact match domains and domains with my keyword and an extra word added. Both are relatively easily ranked if you have a good link building plan.

      I would put a stop word at the end and grab the .com
      Also keep in mind that a .com probably looks more credible then a .info

    It doesn't matter THAT much. Don't get yourself stopped by silly things like that. If you're looking to make a quick bucks, it may matter but if you want to make money on the long run, it really doesn't.

    There's two schools of thought here. Put into context:

    Go for a .com that includes the keywords at the start of the domain name if you are thinking you might flip the site or sell the domain later

    Go for an exact match and .info if you just want your own niche site

    If you look at many of the top ranking sites in SE results for any keywords you'll see a number of them don't include the keywords or exact keyword that is being searched. So that means you don't have to get hung up on the exact keyword in the domain name. However it is easier to rank high if you can get it.

    There's a final chapter to this, though. You need to bear in mind credibility in the eyes of your readers when considering your domain name. You may be building a niche around the keyword 'what is an eland' but you wouldn't want 'whatisaneland.com' as a domain name!

    I would go with the stop word suggestion that's been mentioned. Also if there is an "s" at the end of it, perhaps change that to a "z".

    For stop words I found this page with quite a big list of what is considered stop words.

    Might help you brainstorm a bit.

    I'd go with .info, I find it easier to remember if the site is .info.

    But I see that you've already went for .com, which is much better solution.

    I'd add a letter or so. As others have said the resale value of a .info is significantly less and I always go into sites with a get out plan in mind. If you ever need or want to flip it you need to know that you can get the maximum value for it.

    as long as the KW is viable (and you should have done your research, sounds like you have) then adding a letter or two won't add too much difficulty to ranking for it.
