quick question about affiliates and cookie-laws

As an affiliate for such products as Clickbank ones - like so many of you - I'm just wondering about the cookie laws. For us in the UK something's happening in May next year.

What I'm wondering is, is cookie-control the responsibility of us affiliates, or the product owner? FYI, the website (per niche) I use is a simple landing/opy-in page.

Thanks for any feedback about this.

As far as I know, cookie-control is not our - affiliates - responsibility and I think we cannot do anything about it. What I mean, when you send a lead to the offer page with your aff ID, it gets "cookied" on your account, but when the same person is referred by another affiliate, the cookie often becomes overwritten even though it has not expired.

I wouldn't assume that, because if you are using a tracking program that cookies the user, then there might be problems. He's referring to EU laws I think, that prohibit installing cookies without consent unless its essential for the website. Lots of discussion about this...

I think it depends on the product, but usually the company. Then the company gives you feedback on the stats from the cookie.

I don't know the details, but maybe that's the responsibility of the website owner. If your website promotes affiliate product, that's your responsibility.
