Clickbank, Paypal ... any other options for merchant acct?

I want to sell my product (membership site) through Paypal and eventually sell the site after it has consistently made money. The problem is Paypal requires those who sell a site to have the existing customers sign up all over again (not the best thing if you are trying to sell a membership site). I know that Clickbank is an alternative but there is real downside to going with them as well. Are there other options out there? Thanks for your feedback.

A lot of people use Craigslist or Ebay too.. I know it's not like clickbank but.. you could also try paydotcom, They are a lot like clickbank.

Ignore the comment above about CraigsList/eBay. The post makes
    absolutely no sense.

Here are a few options you can look into:

    1ShoppingCart
    2Checkout
    Authorize.Net
    AlertPay

    Just Google them and compare.

I would love to use Paypal but I am told that they will not transfer current subscribers over to a new buyer. That would make it more difficult to sell the site down the line.

I'm not sure if this would work or not, I've never tried it. What if you set up a new paypal account just for that site. Tie it to a new bank account you open just for that site. Then when you sell the site, just give the new owner to paypal account info.

They could change all the profile information with their information. Then they could add their bank account to the profile, and remove your bank account.

Like i said, don't know if that would work, but it might.

That is good "out of the box" thinking but I am not so sure someone spending good money to buy a site would comfortable with that.

Google Checkout takes about 2 minutes to sign up for, compared to a tedious 7 day PayPal signup time; this might be Google Checkout's most attractive feature.
    Has anyone tried that?

With PayPal, your money is deposited into a PayPal Account, which PayPal Fully Controls. Since PayPal is not a bank, they do not need to follow federal banking regulations. These regulations are designed to help the "Average Joe" avoid issues like having their bank account frozen for weeks or months with no explanation.

An alternative might be a Real Merchant Account, in which your funds are directly deposited into your personal or business bank account, which you control and which is also protected by Federal Banking Regulations. Either way, both are quite secure. Hope this helps!

I don't think Clickbank, Paypal, 2checkout etc are considered merchant accounts. They're 3rd party payment processors.

A real merchant account would be what Samuel Lee describes -

      As for the original question

If you like Paypal, you could still use it. Just set up a separate Paypal account for that membership site alone. Then when you sell the site, just transfer that Paypal account to the new owner.

Clickbank would be the easiest to transfer. I wonder why you don't want to use them?

I have heard you can apply to transfer ownership of a Paypal account, so perhaps you could call them and ask about it.

I have applied with CB before and been turned down without any reason as to why. I am going to apply to them but wanted other alternatives. I am also greatly concerned using CB with all the negative feedback they are getting on the WF and other forums.
