Ebay and Cd sales, er help please?

Hi, I've been trying to find the true answer for a while and am seriously baffled. I have a 225 page book that I want to sell on CD via ebay, it's in a format that cannot be delivered via email, even in a zip file, I tried.

Does anyone know what ebays rules really say about this? I really want to solve it because ebay is one of the main focuses of the especial interest group I'm into (british marine antiques) and it would be a crime not to sell to them.

I tried following the ebay basic directive to use classified ads but ... when you look closer it says that a classified ad will only show to people in ones own local zip code, ie local suburb. and ie a total waste of anyones time to make an ad if your group, like mine, is scattered all over the globe.

I looked at ebay/information products, There are today 2,644 items in that category, and they all are for delivery on CD.
In fact it turns out there are a million books available on CD on ebay, such as the King James Bible I just looked at.

Is this one that even ebay doesn't know what they're doing?
I fully understand ebay's motivation behind changing the rules about digital downloads, no matter if I agree with the policy or not.

I'm just trying to figure out what I can and can't list now. Does anyone have experience with this and know what the answer is?

Many thanks, BR 88

What happened was that a couple years ago (about 2) eBay did a couple ban waves on people who were selling predominately things like eBooks whereas physical delivery didn't matter, it was just the fact that it was a "digital product" - not make sense? It didn't. Also, at the same time, people were selling eBooks mainly as a way to boost their feedback and negate any kind of negative feedback. Now with the limitation of items most people can sell, it isn't really worth it to sell things like eBooks.

Now eBooks with and without physical delivery have crept back on, but at 2,644 listings it is just a fraction of how many eBooks and stuff Used to be in that category.

Yes. all ebooks need to be on CD if selling auction style.

My question to you is are you looking at Ebay's classified ad service or are you using the classified ad format when listing. These are two different animals. Based on zip code you may be looking at the classified service. You don't want this. You want the classified listing as your format when creating a auction. Here you can drive people to your website which in turn can be a sign up or a direct sales letter. At that point you can deliver your product as you like.
