I already use HootSuite and was thinking about adding a ping.FM profile to my scheduled posting so that I could post to every service Ping.FM uses. I looked over the services which Ping.FM posts to and it seems like HootSuite handles the most important ones as it is like Twitter, Facebook, etc. Ping.FM's services are much more niche and not sure that most of them apply to the average webmaster.

Not very familiar with Ping.FM, just curious how other people use it and whether I should go through the steps to set up the various profiles in it or not.

Ping.fm actually works a lot like HootSuite. However, both have advantages over the other. One of the nice things about Ping.fm is that if you want to send one message only to your Twitter account, for example, and then other messages to ALL of thje networks which you are signed up for via Ping.fm, you can do so by including hashtag trigger words in the message, which will tell Ping.fm only to send that message to Twitter.

However, since you are already using HootSuite, it might be beneficial for you to integrate both HootSuite and Ping.fm.

You can learn how to do so here:
