I have been looking into using twitter lately as a way to market and drive traffic. I would like to know what is the best way to gain a following on twitter.

    For Twitter I always suggest first getting your feet wet by following a decent Twitter course. Then use some of the third-party twitter tools recommend by the course. Twitter mktg is a whole other world and you really have to get a feel for Twitter before you can learn to leverage it for real traffic.

    Follow people who are interested in the same things, post some enticing tweets to draw readers in, follow the followers of a competitor, etc.

    To find the best competitors, I recommend Get Twitter Followers | Directory & Location Tools

    Just type in your keyword or niche, and it will show you the top twitter accounts.
