If you were a beginner that wants to make money, what would you do?

I hope I'm posting in the right section. I just read the forum rules.

I'm interested and ready to dedicate time to running an internet based business to generate income.

With so many options available that I've come across so far on this forum, I'm not sure which direction to go. So what would you do if:
  1. You wanted to make roughly $500 or more a month (hope to see some sort of ROI within 2 or 3 months)
  2. Can dedicate about 20 hours consistently a week (I work full time and have a fiancee to attend to. Otherwise I'd spend every non-work hour to building a business) I'm off during the summers so I can dedicate more time then.
  3. Are limited in how much to shell out initially (baby on the way, I have to prepare) but can spend a few hundred over the course of building the business
  4. Are interested in blogging. (I'm starting a blog and was wondering is there anything I can do to compliment it other than affiliate marketing (which I will do too)
What works for you guys? In terms of technical know how, let's say I've dibbled and dabbled in a little bit of this and a little bit of that. But, I have a small foundation of knowledge to expand upon!

Thanks in advance...

Find one specific product that is not out there, but recently launched that has a niche. Promote that one on facebook, your own page about it...

    Spend less than $15

Man if you love blogging then I would say that you should offer article writing service.
    1. Offer article writing service. You just need to earn $20 a day to reach $500 per month (assuming that you work 25 days in a month)
    2. Start small by PMing people here on warrior forum offering free review copies or something like that..
The point here is to got some decent review from reputable warriors, so don't give away free articles to those with small number of post and recent join date.
    3. After you finished your work, shell out $20 to open a new thread in warriors for hire and tell your reviewers to left their review there.
    4. Get as many review as you can so you can build upon your success..

    Cheers
    Andrew

I recently posted two blog posts here on the warrior forum

How To Make Money In This Economy
How To Make Your First Sale

They both tackle the questions that you asked...

But let me also say this. The one thing you dont want to be doing is chasing money. When you start chasing money you will find it very difficult to stop. The best way to discover if you are chasing money is by looking at your bank account. Are you buying more products than money coming in? If you buy and buy and buy, without seeing any return, then you are chasing money.

What you want to focus on is making money. You want to be producing more money than what you are spending. We hear all the time...make it rain. In this case, make it rain money. So focus on making money and not chasing money.

The other thing you want to focus on is building a sustainable business. The way you accomplish this is by focusing on three things...and these are in order.

The first thing you want to do is make money, and make money quickly. You have to be making money fairly quick or you will not make it. Because what will happen is that you will either drop out, or start the viscous cycle of chasing money. Thats why you want to focus on making your first sale.

The second thing you want to do, is that after you make that first sale, is rinse and repeat. Whatever it was that allowed you to make that first sale, you do it again, but figure out how you do it on a larger scale. Because the fastest way to make $500 a month is by making a $100 a month. If you figure out how to make $100 a month, then you can no doubt make $500 a month.

The third thing and something you work towards. Work on getting buy buttons out on the net. Now there are two things that go along with this...you have to have something that converts, and you have to have massive traffic...but you get buy buttons out there...

I have a fourth thing but I will stop with that...

It's good you like to blog. You're also a pretty decent writer and are able to get your point across well.

If I were you I'd find a topic you know and love and develop several blogs around it. It should be of interest to people and have products associated with it. Ideally, it will be not super crowded and not obscure either.

Start writing about your topic with enthusiasm. Come from the heart. Put related images in your posts. Make it fun, exciting. Build up a following.

Create little reports and offer them free in exchange for sign-ups to the list you will be building. After you get some momentum going, start charging a little for your reports. Create stuff with massive value.

Buy associated PLR and MRR (private label rights and master resale rights) material and occasionally offer some for small money. Treat the people on your list like royalty.

In time, find some quality affiliate products to promote and offer them in your blog posts. Don't blatantly hammer your readers with endless offers. Keep it slow and steady. And remember, always PROVIDE MASSIVE VALUE in everything you do.

Finally, do a search on this forum for Alexa Smith. She's a genius when it comes to this business model. Read everything she's written on this stuff and follow her lead. Good luck.

WOW - some great replies already.

I want to suggest a few things:

First, is your goal to make money or do you want to find a passion that ALSO makes money? It's good to know this or you could end up with a business that owns you. I am in the passion business, which means I have turned my vacation into my vocation and 90% of my business is online.

However, if you are familiar with the Entrepreneurial Myth you will have learned that it is often good to start a business that you know nothing about - so that you can find people who can do the work while you focus on the business of making money.

Next, you set a number at $500. I would change that number to something higher (but only if you have the BELIEF or you will be your own limitation). First, business can be like a parabola or shooting an arrow a long distance. Aim high to hit a lower target. The advice of rinse and repeat is also exactly what you need to be doing - simple strategies that work with the idea being that if you can sell to 1 person, you can sell to 1000.

To ensure your safety I would suggest something like the following:

      01 REAL INCOME LESS RISK

Take the suggestion to write as something serious to pursue and perhaps focus on a higher ticket item. I tested this out already when I was on the island of Samui in Thailand and just curious if I could survive if I gave up my business and worked only from my laptop. I made an average of $80 per day just writing. It took me less than one week to get work, but I wrote great proposals and I can type fast. There are always other strategies. I took this concept to another level about two years later to test out another idea and it was easy to make even more money. Still, my business earns me more and it's my passion so I don't pursue working as a provider. If you focus on higher paid items like writing an ebook over an article, you can make $500 with only a few ebooks. I made $400 writing on 3 topics I was very familiar with.

      02 IDEAL INCOME AND WORK

Take something you love and do it on the side. Since you have your $500 being met from hard work, you can take the free time you have to try out IDEAS and see what works that you enjoy so all your eggs are not in the fun basket. When it proves to be a realistic income and it meets your needs, then you can focus on it full time.

      03 TEAM RISK

Pick one day per week and get a team of like minded people together that agree to work on Internet Residual Income projects. If you have a team of 10 then each of you can invest $200 to put $2000 into your various ideas and split the profits. Do this for ONE year with the goal being to LEARN the online world. If something strikes gold - great and if not you split the risk and you learned a lot.

      Hope this helps:

I'm fairly adamant about promoting affiliate marketing to newbies, here's why -

    1. The initial startup costs are minimal(domain name, hosting)

    2. Ultimately, traffic = money and getting involved in affiliate marketing will force you to learn various traffic methods, all of which you should do yourself at the start rather then paying an outsourcer to handle it.

    3. If you're interested in blogging, then making money through affiliate commissions is perfect for that particular vehicle - I suggest targeting brand name keywords via product review style posts as you'll see the highest conversion rate with them.

    4. You don't have to worry about support questions! Being an affiliate means you have no contact with the client buying the product you're referring them onto. You just send them on their way and leave it up to your merchant to make the sale and handle the support questions.

That's just four good reasons why being an affiliate(at least at the start) is, in my mind the best decision you could possibly make.

Either way, I wish you well on your journey. :-)
