How do I make and upload videos?

I have cam studio, and that makes my screen capture videos without any problems. I am running windows xp, and have VLC, so the videos get saved in the vlc format automatically.

How do I upload them to a website, or blog page, so others can view them. I am familiar with putting you tube videos on my site, because they have the code you paste in, but how do I do it, when all I end up with is the vlc icon, which I gave a name, like Video 1

I tried uploading it to one of my blog pages, and it said that format is not supported.

Thanks
Glenn

For your website you'll want to make the video in a MP4 or FLV format (.mp4 or .flv files). I like to use mp4s but that just me.

Your Camstudio should have an option to render the video in either format.

I use Camtasia, and I upload the files to my server as well as put the callout code onto my wepage.

If you don't know how to do that you may be able to go to YouTube and find a video or two on how that is done when using Camstudio.

I'm running "Flash Video Player by Joshua Eldridge. You can Google that and get to the plugin site where you can download it. Of course if you use this plugin your video needs to be in flv format. Actually it may support other formats you can check her to find out more.

Yep make sure it's .mp4 or .flv as someone said. If you use a plugin, there are generally instructions on how to use it. Normally it will involve some type of custom code and then adding the location of your video file. If you search for "video player" or "flv player" in the wordpress director you can find some. You can also check out VooPlayer too which is a free video player. It's in my sig.

A good idea would be to upload it onto youtube then embed the video within your site as they will not only give you more exposure on your website but also on youtube.

I agree with you. In this way you will not have load on your hosting server and will also get traffic from YouTube. You will just have to embed the code of videos in your website.

Use the embed code YouTube provides for you with each video you post.

All you need to do is copy and paste the code in an HTML section of your site and/or blog and if needed align it using <center, right, or left>'Code'</center, right, or left>
