How to sell a product consisting of a set of unique discount codes

Hi all,

If possible I would like to obtain some advise about a product I'm planning to sell online.

I am working together with a number of providers of high end -online- training material in a manufacturing industry. Together we are trying to target a new group of customers that until now rarely make use of these trainings (i.e. small & medium sized businesses). In order to get these companies to try out these products we have created a bundle of online training products from multiple vendors and plan to offer the bundle with a great discount (a little bit inspired on the the "mac heist" concept). So what I will be selling as a "product" is a set of unique discount codes. A buyer will get 10-15 discount codes with which training can be purchased through the normal third party online registration forms.

My question is the following: how do I generate the specific "product" that I can sell, e.g. through e-junkie (e.g a pdf containing 10 discount codes that are unique to a specific buyer and that can be redeemed at the vendor). Does that mean I have to create hundreds of PDF documents, each with their unique codes, and sell these as different products or is there a smarter way?

Hope this is clear...

Appreciate any feedback!

Thanks in advance

I have to say, charging prospects for promotional discounts sure sounds counter productive. Seems like the training vendors should be paying you to give away this information. Aside from gray market Adwords advertising vouchers, and restaurant coupon books, I have never heard of people willingly buying discounts.

Sorry that I wasn't clear enough! A buyer of the bundle gets all the training material in full (5-10 training products) at a fraction of the list price.

So, e.g. 10 products normally sold separately for 1000 USD can be bought together on my site for 300 USD

The discount codes are just a way to give buyers of the bundle access to the individual training materials they bought (e.g. access to webinars, webcasts hosted elsewhere etc) using the normal shopping carts of the individual vendors. The discount code gives them access for free (since they already paid for the course via my site).

So my question is: is there a smarter alternative to creating 1000 PDFs containing each 10 unique codes (strings of text) and sell these via the shoppingcart.

One thought is to make 10 separte pdf's for each course and to have an ecommerce system that allows you to make kits of items. You would still have to create 1000 kits but correcting/changing a pdf is all that needs to be done for all to be corrected.

Alternative is to purchase a database program that creates websites. Then anything is possible. If you have computer skills, you could probably create the whole thing yourself. Check AlphaSoftware for such a product (and I am not affiliated with them).

This sounds like a pragmatic approach. Would every "kit" be considered a separate product in an ecommerce system (meaning I would sell 1000 products) or could it be set-up as an inventory of 1000 slightly different versions of one product? Would that depend on the ecommerce system?

          Thanks!
