Problem with Hostgator

Now a days they are giving free .in domains. But I am not able understand the application. There is no DNS settings options in C-Panel. They were saying if we need any updation we have to inform them then they will update our settings.

I think each and everytime if we call them the phone bill will be more than what we pay while purchasing the domain.

What shall I do ? Anybody facing the same problem ? Shall I cancel the domain ?

Your help needed !!!

Wow. There are so many domains out there now. I remember when they were giving out free co.cc domains everywhere. I actually set my very first squeeze pages up on one of those and used free hosting, too. Heck, it got the job done!

Are you buying the domains through Hostgator? Don't do that. You have far less control over your domains. Get them through a registrar apart from your hosting co, like Namecheap or Godaddy. If something happens to your host, like getting suspended or something, your domains are in jeopardy. With your domains at a registrar, you can change the nameservers any time you want without having to contact someone.

Buying domain names from your hosting service is your first mistake. Never do that.

Not a direct answer, but just to re-inforce what has been already posted.

In sum; buy your domain name from one provider (NameCheap are good IMHO) and buy your webhosting from another provider, preferably one that offers cPanel (HostGator are quite good).

Personally, I have never heard of .in domains. Do beware of free domains however, because they are never free for ever and you might get a nasty shock in 12 months time when you have to pay the re-newal fee!

I strongly recommend that with your limited understanding, you carry out a lot more research on the topics of web hosting, domain names and domain hosting before you jump in and make a commitment.

Just my thoughts and good luck,

        Jeff.
