Any good free MP4 to AVI/WMV converters?

I'm trying to package up my camtasia video files to make my course, but I notice I can't open them in my video editing software because camtasia makes MP4 files, so i need to convert them to AVI or WMV files.. does anone know of any decent software that can do this?

Thanks!

Dennis

You can tell camtasia to export them as uncompressed avi files.

For a converter, just google it.

I have already created the camtasia file though, so the only thing I have is a MP4. I made these files a while ago not thinking i wouldnt be able to edit them.

The ones that pops up in google are all shareware and will not allow you to convert the entire file or will put ads on the video..

    Dennis,

I know there are some free, no nag ones as I had one but cant remember what it was and no longer have it.

Another option would be to add the mp4 files to camtasia and then you can export them as a new project.

Why do you need to convert your mp4 file to avi?

mp4 is widely supported format and also better for download if you are distributing downloadable files or podcasting.

Also in camtasia you can just save the file as an avi when you render it as Garrie mentioned.

Unfortunately, you can't import MP4 files into Camtasia (even though Cam 6 will create MP4 files).

Yeah but my response was to output as an avi because he was creating the file with Camtasia in the first place...

I think he is just not knowing he can save as an avi in the first place rather than outputting to mp4.

the best free video converter i've used is iWisoft Free Video Converter, it is a freeware, with very good results. It is free with no embedded watermarks or ads.

Look at "any video converter professional", in Google I think it converts all types of video files. Seems to work really well for me.

I use a good video/audio converter, however it is not free. Still, it features various helpful options, like "surf and catch video", free CD ripper and Cd burner, etc.

You can try MP4 to AVI Converter. It also supports other popular formats conversion. But it's not freeware. You can access to a guide on .mp4 to .avi conversion.
