Taking a Break and my Productivity

So I took a week long vacation from the Warrior Forum. A free vacation, mind you! (never advertise your signature... that's all I'll say!)

Anyway, thought I'd let you know my story briefly, and then explain the moral of the story.

So during my week's break, I focused on my business. Without distraction, I was able to become super productive. I'm looking at about $3,000 a week from setting things up which weren't there before. Additionally I have way more time to work on projects I've left neglected. For example, I'm programming a sales letter creator with a lot more features than what's already out there, and because of my 'vacation', it has gotten closer to completion than ever before.

Today I returned. Today I've spent hours here, posting, reading, wasting time. Every eBook you buy weighs you down. Every post you read slows you.

You're walking along a path. Some are running past you. Some you can see in the far, far distance. This road leads to success and wealth, at which point the road forks into many opportunities.

By purchasing piles of eBooks and wasting time reading countless posts for that one rare gem of a post which somehow helps you, you are adding another ball and chain to your legs. It slows you down. You become less productive - you walk slower on the road.

Take a week away from the forum.

Run. Run as fast as you can on your path. Catch up to the others, smile and nod, and keep running.

The more often you run, and the faster you do it, the closer you'll be to your goal.

And sometimes, taking a break, sitting down on the side of the road for a breather, allows you to get back up and sprint to the finish line.

Best of luck everyone.

    Great post Mattvit!

Being productive is key in this business....I keep productive doing the following.

    1) Making a to do list.
    2) Putting all the income making activities in the list first.
    3) Not visiting the forums until I have worked through my list.....

    Additionally...

Get rid of ALL distractions and work solidly through until my to do list is done....

Result is an incredible increase in productivity!

    Regards

    Chris

Congrats to gaining one of the most valuable lessons in life...for free.

Took me awhile a decade or so ago to internalize that meself!

When it comes right down to it...you simply have to just freakin' *do it*.

You cannot be held prisoner by analysis/paralysis/overeBookness/etc.... you have to take ownership of your own successes or failures TODAY.

    Woot to you!

I think that variety is the spice of life. For this reason where possible I like to very what I do. There are some tasks that must be repeated But even when Doing those tasks I find there are ways to make them different. And in my Life outside of work, Adding variety contributes to the variety that I produced in my work. 4 example, I am now speaking this message rather than typing it. it is quite enjoyable. it is rather comedic as well. but voice recognition has come far.

There's a lot the be said for effective 'time management'. It's easy to let yourself get drawn into this place and it'll interfere with your 'real job' if you let it.

    Yep MattVit, agree with you.

I sat down and planned out my entire new project today. It was a couple of hour's work but I now have a definate plan in place with deadlines.

    It was a good day.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I could not agree with you more. Sometimes we need to slow down short-term to speed up long-term.

    Awesome post!

Often spending time organizing saves a lot of time later. What you don't want to happen, however, is to just organize and never execute. There's a middle ground where the sweet spot is.

It's funny how easily the little distractions sneak in and turn into a HUGE productivity time-suck. (Said as I'm wasting time, scrolling through the WF, lol)

Some good information here, for sure...but you do have to pick through and find the things that are useful for you specifically. Ugh...ok...back to work!

Reading forums is often just a waste of time. I'd advise to change your work area if you have problems with focus. That helped me a lot.

When my productivity fell I needed to go out of my house and work somewhere like library with working wi-fi.

Today I've been reading about Kaizen and the value of taking small steps. Maybe a small step for many people is to look at the value of the time spent on any internet forum. If you are paid $25 per hour, for example, is it worth that $25 to spend an hour posting messages on an internet forum?

Great point. However I personally find that I need to be able to take some time off even during the course of a week rather than spend every moment of my time working...but that's just me.
