Doubt in syndicating content

Hi Warriors,

If I have a windows tool which can post my articles across several doc sharing sites, bookmarking sites and web 2.0 blogs, then what should be the optimum excerpt length of my article I need to syndicate across this sites?

For blogging sites I am thinking of an excerpt length of around 300-500 characters and then a link back to my original article with my keyword as anchor text.

In bookmarking sites we need to post it as per the maximum length allowed for the sites, so not much options here..

And for Doc sharing sites I am posting the whole content and then another link back to the original article..

Are these the optimum settings or should I go with whole content in my web 2.0 blogs as well?

Need some desperate help here warriors...

Thanks,
k3rtiichow

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "Doc sharing sites" (I think of those as "PDF directories", perhaps - and actually I don't know what you mean by "web 2.0 blogs" either - not a criticism at all: it's just that people use these terms with such a wide variety of different meanings!), but in my opinion it's never a good idea to link back to another copy of an article that someone's just read. So if, as you say, you're posting the whole content on these "Doc sharing sites", why not just link back to your landing page, instead of to another copy of the same article?

Sorry for the confusion, alexa smith...

I mean doc sharing sites are those where we will have upload PDF Docs and stuff..like scribd, docstoc etc...here I got this tool which can post to these sites...so I was just wondering if I need to post my whole article or a wordpress blog post to get it syndicated...

And coming to web 2.0 blogs, I mean sites like wordpress.com, blogspot.com etc...here I am just posting some 300-500 characters of my post and then having a link back to my original post to make the visitors visit my site to continue reading...

So I am wondering is this ok??

    Thanks,
    k3rtiichow

There is another thread currently active focused on article syndication. Maybe the responses there will help you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5086726

Noooo, not at all. Sorry - you were using those terms as I do, myself (it's just that many others don't!) ...

Yes, I see ... I use those, myself. I normally submit my whole article, I must say. But I suppose it isn't actually necessary: to be honest, I haven't thought about it much ...

This depends on the terms of service of each one. Unfortunately (unlike "article directories", say, which all effectively have more or less the same TOS on the significant points) they all have their own rules.

At wordpress.com, strictly speaking this isn't allowed at all, because they won't let you use a page there to generate traffic or backlinks, and it runs the risk of being deleted if anyone (a competitor?) ever reports it. Blogspot.com the same, but with less certainty of actually getting it deleted (they're inconsistent and idiosyncratic: sometimes they think such pages are there "for the purpose of generating traffic to another site" and sometimes they don't). And at most sites like Squidoo, HubPages and so on, they won't allow syndicated content anyway, so the question doesn't really arise (i.e. to do it there, you'd have to make the content "unique" and there backlinks are not worth doing that for!). I used to use many of what people call "Web 2.0 sites" as part of my backlinking strategy a couple of years ago, but have long since given up: it's really not worth the time and trouble, for the low value backlinks you get. People imagine that (for example) "because Squidoo is a high-PR site" they must be good, but it doesn't work out that way, typically: it's only Squidoo's own home page that has the high PR, and "your" page there (which of course they can delete or lock any time they like, as well!) doesn't at all.

I do use PDF directories, but I'm only really interested in article syndication to places/people/sites/ezines that have targeted readers waiting for content. Yes, the backlinks are very good when they're websites (because they're all relevant ones, by definition - otherwise they wouldn't want my content for their readers), but I'm doing it primarily for traffic.

What is most important is that people actually want to read your content. that means you must last spend time writing something worthwhile. you must show people your work and invite their feedback. you must develop relationships with potential readers and get them involved such as through making comments. you may at some point in the future reach a point where people actually want to syndicate your content. that will be a very nice place to be and you should drive to reach that goal

To really answer this question, you need to decide why you're putting content on the web 2.0 sites? Are you just creating a backlink for SEO purposes? Creating human generated traffic? Etc. Once you figure that out, I think the "how to" part will be clearer.
