Business name advice needed

Hi all,

I would love to get some opinions on this.

Let's say my business URL is: teddybears4u.com (hypothetical)

Should my business name be teddybears4u.com or Teddy Bears 4u

What do you think?

Thank you!!!

Kim

I think its a nice way to market your business by having the URL serve as the company name and vice versa. Its got a nice flow and easy to read....I would use the first option. Brand the business AND your website at the same time since Im guessing the bulk of your business will be done online.

On a side note, if you havent created a logo for yourself yet - may I plug my design services and have you Google search Y3k Designs to view my portfolio? I'm fairly new and cannot post links yet....

    Good luck!

Kim - will you forever and always only be dealing with your hypothetical 'Teddy Bears?' One day you might branch out into, say, porcelain dolls, or something else totally unrelated. It might seem cute to name your business with a URL but consider what your business might be next week, or next month, or next year.

I guess if you do enter other areas you could always set up another business name and work toward branding it, too.

Just food for thought. Better to think about it now than to try to deal with it later.

        Peace.

That sounds like a good business name for branding your company. If you like it, go for it!

One thing I will say about your example, don't call your business teddybears4u.com IF teddybearsFORyou.com is already taken. If you want to call your business teddybears4u.com then I would only do so if teddybearsforyou.com is also available for you to purchase.

If you don't own both domains then you could end up doing a lot of advertising for someone else's business. Names like this can easily get mixed up and confused when spread through word of mouth.

      Hi Will,

I do have both domains registered. Should I redirect the foryou one to the 4you one?

Thank you every one for your input!

      I really appreciate it!

If you have both domains that's great. I only mentioned that because sometimes people will choose alternative versions of words like 4 (for) and 2 (to) because the domain names with the real words were not available.

Yes, I would setup the website on one domain and then simply have the other domain act as a redirect.

I agree with branding the business name and the domain at the same time - TeddyBears4u.com...

You may also consider buying 3-5 other keyword related names, build out a few simple blogs, get'em ranked and have those advertise and link to your branded site. Works especially well if you're targeting local areas.

Thanks Silent Warrior! That's great advice. I also have (hypothetical keyword) eteddybears.com and teddybearss.com

I love the teddybears4u.com. It's catchy, can be branded in fun, memorable ways. I would do a permanent redirect of the alternate domain name.

Brand the heck out of your business name, including a recognizable favicon for your site.
