Overwhelmed with all the various IM tools & tips....help prioritizing for my biz?

Thanks for taking time to reach out to a newb like me in the wonderful world of internet/network marketing. I am so completely overwhelmed right now while trying to build a new marketing strategy with so many different tools and techniques.....

Short bio about my new business venture:
I became a distributor for a fuel additive product by Syntek Global called XFT: Xtreme Fuel Treatment. It does a multitude of great things for an engine but the key selling tool is that is improves fuel economy which saves people money at the pump. It also improves engine life & performance, and reduces emissions by 25% which appeals to the Green movement .

Target Audience
:
• Individuals looking to reduce fuel costs & repairs
• Commercial companies looking to reduce fuel costs & repairs
• Potential distributors (eager, like minded entrepreneurs)

Current marketing strategy:
The company gives us a huge library of documentation files & videos to promote...all tailored to a certain audience (industrial/commercial/individual). Ive been exposing the product and distributor opportunity to friends and family using Facebook and emails. MASSIVE FAIL!

OK, now you are caught up to speed. I created my first post last night on Warrior Forum explaining that I recently joined up as a distributor of XFT. There is also a great MLM opportunity for distributors interested in building a huge sponsor network.

Ive decided that I want to first create a strong customer base and make as many product sales as possible so that I can use that as leverage later on when I approach potential distributors. I want to be able to share commission success stories to generate excitement. My plan is to create a kickass marketing strategy targeting both individuals looking to reduce their fuel costs AND medium to large size commercial fleet accounts (delivery companies, fleet companies, local municipalities, etc).

My post yesterday generated some INCREDIBLY useful tips on how to market the product to consumers using all types of great IM tips but after spending a full day on this forum my head is literally spinning! I looked into DareDevil email lists, Fiverr gigs, backlinks, affiliate marketing, yadda yadda. I think I went on tilt with this overload of resources!

I am asking humbly, for you experienced folks out there to shed some light on a how to create a practical marketing plan for my business to draw interest for both individuals AND commercial accounts. My distributor website gives me access to TONS of great documentation on the product, videos, testimonials, etc that I have at my disposal. I plan to use much of that information in my presentations to both individuals and commercial companies but the first big obstacle is getting my foot in the door with the guys up top on the commercial side...I need to PROVE that my product will yield their business net savings each year. Thats Part 1.

Part 2 is exposing this awesome product to the general public via internet marketing and this is where I am lacking a solid marketing plan....I'm just so incredibly overwhelmed by all the various techniques available these days! I appreciate any and all responses while I get my feet wet in this new business!

I learned the hard way, and FAST, that simply pitching my friends and family using Facebook was a big mistake. I am already getting the cold shoulder from a few close friends who simply dont want to be bothered. Thankfully I learned this early on and ceased my FB marketing so that I dont wake up to ZERO friends one day! lol

Thanks guys & gals,
Gregg

You hit the nail on the head when you quoted "marketing plan" too many people skip this hugely important step, remember the old cliche "fail to plan then you plan to fail"

Go on google and type free marketing/business plan templates. There are some great ones out there. Print it out and complete it using as much advice as you can get here on the warrior forum.
Stick it on the wall next to where you do your work and read it every day. A good plan builds a solid business!!!

    Hey Greggorio,

I'm actually looking for the same thing you are; a basic marketing strategy, and a way to build up a fan base. While our products are totally different (I sell apps), I have the same problem. Before anyone posts some basic marketing strategies, though, I've listed several dilemmas on my own thread several below this one. I think it would be beneficial to the both of us if whoever views this could look at my post as well; we'd both find marketing strategies, and I think I may have listed a paradox or two you'll likely encounter.

K.I.S.S It - Once you develop the marketing plan keep it simple. Use FREE Advertising sites to promote the product (IE: Craigslist) followed up by an opt in page to stay in touch with customers. Build the List! Possibly a Blog but you need to keep the content fresh and consistant with your "Nich". Network Blogs with 2GSM is a great place to start Blogging. Get in touch if you want more info on that - Face Book Fan page another great FREE Resource - My Page.

DON'T GET DISTRACTED with the latest and greatest to draw customers in. Stick with what works and if you have any kind of a support system "up-line" that is successful - Do what they do.

I honestly feel a bit of relief with those simple and honest responses.

My initial reaction last night while reading at least 20 Warrior threads was, "Holy SH** I am missing out on some powerful IM tools!!"

Well, maybe I am just not quite ready yet to implement 6 different network marketing methods until I get grounded with a solid plan first. I will begin a very basic marketing/business plan search and form a gameplan. Maybe I will implement this basic stretegy for the first 3 months, then kick into high gear once I have established a baseline of customers.

Nigel: we most certainly need to correspond with one another because I think we could bounce some terrific ideas off one another, being that we are both targeting the general public in 2 completely different markets. Who knows, maybe we can even work out some sort of referral program in the near future...?

      Onwards and upwards my friends!

    Hi there Greg,

You mention a distributor website from where you can draw information, but do not mention whether you have your own website as well. I also do not know your degree of expertise when it comes to setting up your site. To be on the safe side, I will assume you have minimal knowledge.

I believe your "step 2" should be your starting point. By drawing in members of the general public as your clientele first, it will be easier to prove to the "Big Boys" that the product is effective.

You can use the forum search function to get more detail related to each point.

    1. Research keywords to find the most likely terms that your potential customers are using to to find a product that does what your product is supposed to do.

    2. Pick the best one and use that as the name of your site - get it registered and hosted.

    3. Get an autoresponder account.

    4. Set up wordpress blog. Add useful plugins

    5. Put together a report providing some initial information as a giveaway.

    6. use your autoresponder account to create a form that potential buyers can complete in order to get their hands on the freebie. This will be the start in-so-far as creating your "list" is concerned.

    7. Write 10 or so follow up mails to be sent out every 3 or 4 days - make sure they contain interesting information.

    8. Start Adding posts to your blog and if possible videos as well. You will need to follow SEO (Search Engine Optimization) principles. Try to keep your posts friendly and chatty. Create at least 1 post every 2 to 3 days to start with. Allow "comments" and actively encourage your clients to participate and ask questions etc.

    9. Register your site with Google Webmaster Tools; Yahoo Webmaster Explorer; and Bing Webmaster Central (you will need a windows live ID for Bing)

    10. Start building backlinks (This is where Fiverr can be usefull) -
If you create videos then put them on YouTube. Make sure your Url is added there as well (good backlink). Allowing others to use your videos gets you more backlinks

Hope I have understood your question correctly and have not been too simplistic. You are welcome to contact me via Skype if you wish.
