Hi,

I speak fluent Russian, Polish and English. I would seriously think about employing a translator rather than use software. Anyone who speaks various languages will tell you that software simply doesn't work. While translators are the more expensive option, they are the best.

You mean if you want to translate for example , an ebook to about six different languages, will you hire sis different translators? what about your google adwords, website pages and alot of them, are you saying that Language Translators/Converters software are not effective in these areas?

I noticed on my wordpress stats the other day a couple of google translator links - seems someone had opted to read my blog in Japanese! Is there a way to generate these manually ourselves?

I wouldn't use a translator script on a site that had my name on it. However, if you're doing something like made for adsense content sites, they can be a good income multiplier.

When I was cranking out MFA sites, I used this one with success.

How can you differentiate this to a stand - alone application?

The Incansoft Translator uses the Google Languages engine. I suppose the translation could be achieved with a desktop application, but the hands-on factor would be significantly more. The idea behind the Incansoft app was to automate as much as possible. As soon as you take the application offline, you increase the manual workload significantly.

Once I used a software to convert a userguide to German. But when I send it to a client to check it (who spaks German), he laughed at many converted words. He said some words are taken in cntext and should be converted.

So I paid him fee to convert it

If you want to see how well or badly a translation software performs, do this little exercise.

Write a short sentence - I use "It was six o'clock when the clock chimed seven so my father decided that it was time he mended it." - then translate it into the language of your choice.

Copy the result and then translate it back into the original language.

When you have stopped laughing, search out a personal translator.

I presently using a language transloator who is speaks and writes fluently in French and English, but his first language is French to translate all my products.

I have tried dektop and site translators but it does not give the exact interpretation as they told me instantly when we tried to do that.

I tried the multi-lingual marketer when it first came out about 4 or 5 years ago and it was next to useless in my opinion.

I asked a couple of people who speak Spanish and French and their response was not only was it poor but both of them recommended I took the pages down.

I just dumped the free WP Global Translator plugin OFF all of my sites yesterday because if you log into your Google Account/Webmaster Tools you will see that it cranks out hundreds and hundreds of error 404 pages according to Google. Now I need to login into my Google Account and delete all those pages it created.

I just bought Big Mikes (Incansoft) Translator software and really hope it won't create the same error pages.

I'm just about to install the Incansoft Translator software for all my WP sites. Have you actually used the Incansoft Translator software yet? If so, have you checked in your Google Account to see if it creates hundreds of error 404 pages like the free WP Global Translator plugin does? I hope it doesn't. I googled this problem and apparently lots of people have this same problem with that Global Translator plugin too.

I've been too busy to install it on any of my sites yet.

Google has indexed almost 3600 pages, most of them translated.

I'll shoot Diego an email and see if he can address the 404 issue. It's going on 2:30 am Mike's time.

"This is the 6:00 o'clock chimed in 7, so my father decided that this is it."

Doing a round-trip translation is an interesting and sometimes hilarious test of translation software. For even more entertainment try translating it across three languages.

Natural language is far too subtle and context sensitive to trust a machine with (at the moment anyway).

Reminds me of part of a joke where one nuclear technician is telling another "You can never put too much water in a nuclear reactor".

(That statement can be validly read to have two completely opposite meanings)

Next we see a mushroom cloud.

If you're after some keyword hits for non-critical copy then maybe, otherwise best use a real person. Either way, how could this be monetized?

Are you the same Steve I had an email conversation with about this issue a week or so back?

If so, what I said still stands - we're not seeing this issue with the Incansoft Translator. I've had the opportunity to work on a couple of WP sites over the past week helping customers and they're not seeing the problem either.

I'm wondering if the problem isn't more elementary like how your sitemaps are being constructed - we use plain link lists (text files with URL's to every page) and none of the 3 big search engines seem to have a problem with it.

On a separate note, machine translation is by no means perfect, but it is slowly improving. I wouldn't use them to translate and sell a product like an ebook for example, but for content pages? It's really not bad - the gist of the content is understandable (at least in Greek for me).

How to monetize it? Take for example 100 content pages, which is about what we have at Free Graphics Daily From Incansoft Header Software and multiply it by 41 languages - 4,100 pages on non-duplicate content getting indexed not only in the main search engines but in all the country specific ones as well.

Much larger SE presence equals greater potential to pull visitors. Incidentally, while we can complain about the quality of the machine translated pages, ever seen the quality of so many web pages in poorly written English?

Lastly on this, nothing will replace human translated content in the near future, but cost is an obvious issue. I rather suspect that the typical web site owner could not get the gist of their message out there if they had to pay a premium for each page translation.

Using a translator will increase your traffic a lot from my experience but will not usually translate into sales. If you run wordpress and use the translator suddenly all the google bots turn up from every country but unfortunately this in my experience does not translate into sales for the reason above and can mean you get a lot of emails you cannot answer.

I speak English and Spanish fluently and can tell you, the softwares and online tools are OK to get an idea of what something says (freetranslation.com) is the best I found...but are not good enough to use on your site...better to get real person as a translator...
