Hi all, great forum. I've been playing around with the wp-o-matic plug-in and would like to be able to pull up posts that are targeted to specific keywords in an RSS feed. For example, if I pull from the CNN-Entertainment RSS feed, I'd like to only grab posts about Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. Is there a way to target wp-o-matic to only grab keyword specific posts. I've looked around this forum and can't seem to find an answer. Or am I totally missing something with this plug-in? Thanks!

WPOM will just post what you give it in the RSS feed, so that keyword targeting needs to be done beforehand. So you will need to build your RSS feed from a targeted search first. Tim |

A great way to do this is by using Yahoo Pipes. You can add a feed from for instance CNN like you are saying above. Add a filter (Keywords you want) and when you save your pipe...just grab the RSS feed of the pipe. Then you add that to the campaign in wp-o-matic So what you are doing is creating a new rss feed from an rss feed...but the new feed is filtered. |

I have GOT to make some time to play with pipes. It seems killer. I like using straight keyword targeted RSS feeds, like from search engines or bookmarking sites, etc. Another thing you might TRY (I believe it may be against the TOS) is using the RSS version of Google Alerts. I WOULD NOT recommend doing this for an AdSense site, as the RSS Alerts are tied to your Google acct. along with your AdSense code. They may bust you on it. However, it's a great way to get keyword targeted results from web pages, blogs, news, etc. and with the Alerts system, you get them in real-time (nearly so) and you can do some pretty advanced Google-fu in the search strings. Also note, you're only going to be getting snippets with this method, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. |

Keith. Yahoo Pipes is awesome, I've had some great fun playing with it in the past and the possibilities are as they say - endless. Tim |
