Amazon Text Only Links now Showing Pop ups?

I created a new post on one of my Amazon sites over the weekend and now notice that when I hover my cursor over an image containing an Amazon link, (such as (AmazonAmazon )( Not real Link)

that a pop up appears with a "Buy Now" button contained within an Amazon box.

It's also happening with anchor text links but seems to be inconsistant in that it if I hover my cursor over some of the linked images or anchor texts, the pop up shows, but while doing the same over others, it doesn't.
And then, when I go back to a link that showed the pop up a minute or 2 before, it's not showing.
It seems to be only happening on the one post I created at the weekend while on all the older posts it doesn't happen.
One of my readers pointed it out and said they found it distracting and distateful so I hope Amazon is'nt trying to force it on their affilaites.

Anyone else experiencing it??

That's something I'll have to check out. I feel like those kind of pop ups are pretty annoying too, but Amazon does so much testing that I wonder if actually converts into more sales.

I have not noticed it yet,

I know some plugins do that, so you might want to check if you have any of them installed, but so far I have not noticed that happening but will go and check a few of my sites now and see.

Personally I don't like them but if they improve click through's I'm all for it

    kickin it on Amazon

    My sites aren't doing it.
There is a widget or something you can use to make buy it now pop ups from Amazon.
I tried it out a while back. didn't convert well for me.
If you have the code for it on an older post that is down your main blog page the pop up would even occur on newer posts that were on the top of my main blog page even though they didn't have the code on them.

Hmmm. It all seems a bit spammy if Amazon has adopted this approach. I'd be interested to learn if it's doing it all over the world.

This is the link to the page

When you are building your text only links in Amazon Associate Center, there is snippet of code you can add at the end of your html (right before the closing body and html tags) that will create these hover-over popups.

Oh Really? That's interesting and one I wasn't aware of. However I did'nt specificaaly order it to be included and did things in exactly the same way I've always done them.
Can I PM you with the text link?

kellio48 - What it sounds like is that when you were creating the product links for your website you generated Product Preview links and added to the web page.

Rather than using the link stripe at the top of a product page, if you follow the steps on the Product Links page to generate links you 1) search for the product, 2) select a product from the search results and click on the Get Link button, 3) customize and get the HTML for the link.

At step 3 if you choose to get a text link you will have the option of seeing the Product Preview link for the item selected in box/area #2 (I believe) and copy and pasting the HTML from box/area #4.

Here's the Amazon Associates Performance Tip for Product Previews.

People seem to be misunderstanding the problem here.

People. Please read the original thread starter before commenting but I'll try to clarify more below.

I'm not getting "product reviews" pop ups, I'm getting "buy now" buttons popping up.

They seem to appear at random when moving or hovering over a link.

Sometimes they appear momentarily and then vanish and at other times they sit on the page until the cursor is moved and then vanish.

They are "unclickable" because they vanish as soon as the cursor is moved.

    Here's the page again.

Move your cursor slowly over an image or a link and at times a buy now banner will appear.

This is only happening on one page of the whole site and it's a page I created just a few days ago.
I'm not adding any Amazon code except the immediate affiliate link such as

    xttp://wwwdotamazon dot com/gp/product/B003652EQY/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=kayakfishfind-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399369&creati veASIN=B003652EQY

I'm using the add image and add link function at the top of a wordpress add post by clicking on the link and adding the http://etc and then adding the rel="nofollow" target="_blank" tags on the html page as I've done for years.

I'm downloading the images to my hard drive first and placing them on the page manually and then linking them to Amazon with the above link which I'm also linking my anchor text to.

I hope that's clarified exactly what is happening.

Thank for all your help. I do appreciate it regardless.

I see them and they ARE clickable. If I click on the buy button I'm taken to a page where I'm asked to confirm if I want to add it to my shopping cart.

I can't offer an explanation though - I've never seen it happen before.

My affiliate links are alot shorter than yours. You could try creating your affiliate links with a link generator (to make sure you don't get any extra code that might be causing the pop up). Here's one: Amazon Affiliate Link Generator

Kellio48 - did you even take the time to look at the links in my post and compare what I explained with the way you built a couple links on your page??? I wasn't talking about any product REVIEW.

Like it or not, what I am seeing on your page IS EXACTLY what you get when you generate text only Product PREVIEW (not review) links, including the Buy Now button you seem hung up on and the almost grayed out Privacy Information link in the corner.

Viewing your page source shows a couple places you have javascript 'link-enhancer-common.' This is EXACTLY the same as what is generated by the Product Preview link that I described in the previous post. So, either you intentionally added the javascript to your link or whatever method you used to generate the link code included it for you.

Either you want help understanding what is happening on your page or you don't.

        Good luck.

Yes. As a matter of fact I did take a look at the pages you referred to but nothing has changed from the countless times I've looked at them in the past.

I have been an Amazon Associate for around 4 years and the only reason I posted this thread is because of all the 3 hundred or so links I've created during the past using exactly the same method and which is incidently, exactly the method referred to in the pages you mentioned, this is the first time I've experienced this issue.

When creating text links, yes there is the option to add a product review, (the code for which is displayed in a separate box beneath the code for the text link) I'm not using it and never have.

While the code well maybe appearing when viewing the page source, it's not appearing in the html editor and I certainly did not put it anywhere and which is the basis for the topic of this thread.

While I appreciate your attempts to help, and if you really want to help as an effective member of this forum, when doing so please be kind enough to refrain from sarcasm and paternalism which is completely unnessessary and.... in looking at your profile picture, unless it's an avatar, I'm probably nearly twice your age.

          Good luck

Thanks for your tip. Another oddity is that some of them are clickable and others vanish as soon as the mouse is moved even fractionally but while still hovering over the image or in a couple of places, a text link.
