How-to sites...with download options.

I came up with an idea for a product that is easy to put together by oneself. am trying to set up a web site that would offer a how-to assemble (this particular product) link for download for a reasonable fee. I am taking this approach because the DVD mailing option appears to be the more expensive choice as opposed to the direct link download option.

I am desperately trying to find a way to put the project together. Can anyone suggest an area where I can review to at least get ideas as to the kind of approach I can use to assemble such a site?
