Squidoo and Hubpages

Hi,

Does creating a Squidoo and a hubpage and pointing it at your website help in search engine rankings, or does it depend on how much traffic or PR your actual Squidoo or Hubpage has ?

    Having either or both a hub and lens pointing to your site is a good thing in that they are both high ranking sites and therefore are authorarative in G's eyes. You therefore get 2 good backlinks as long as the subject matter on the sites is relevant to your main site.

    Also, ensure that you don't link back in return from your site to the hub or lens as you want to retain as much 'link' juice as your site can get.

      I don't think you get a backlink for squidoo. I believe they are no-follow.

      Can anyone else confirm this?

      Additionally, it is still good to have one because the squidoo and hubpage probably will rank in the search engines before your site. Therefore you will get organic traffic and traffic from the web 2.0 sites.

        You definitely get a back link from Squidoo--just as you would with Hubpages.

    Don't forget to ping your lens and hb's at places like pingler every time you update the lens and for new lens and hubpages.

      I am a work in progress as I have created some lenses and hubpages, put in some links to my blog and webpage and even got featured as a hot hub and yet I get very few visitors in over two months.

      I'm doing some more research as I believe these two authority sites are too important to give up on.

      I watched a hubpages tutorial video that I have for over a year and got a tip on how to get more traffic internally from hubpages.

      I never thought about joining their forum among other things. Its given me some new ideas to implement.
