I get your point but useless dribble will not be rewarded regardless if its bumped to the top. People smell fresh spam and immediately know that there is no value. The warrior forum is filled with intelligent marketers who can spot bull 10 miles away.

You're missing the point. By quoting the spammer's links, you are just giving him another link and giving that link more exposure in the thread.

Using the report button really works ... just click on the red triangle. No need to berate or talk to spammers by quoting them. It's pointless.

Report the spam post. Simple.

That may be so but a popular technique at the moment is where they insert invisible images into the posts so that anyone who views that thread will be visiting their affiliate links without knowing.

So by responding to the spammers posts it jumps the thread back up to the top of the forum so even more people are going to see the thread and be cloaked by their affiliate link.

Best practice is to report not respond.

Argh... only if the spammer is the one who started the thread. But just as often the spammer will be a single post in the middle of a thread, frequently a WSO.

And so what if the whole thread is deleted? Just don't respond to spammers at all, just report them.

Just today, I saw such a thread, which had 5 posts containing the same spam message. Only two of those posts were started by the spammer. The other 3 were responses - with the spammer's quoted message - posted by two members.

One of those two members has been here for many years. And, I'm sure he wasn't trying to help the spammer out in any way.

However, some "members" have done so before. (Most times, those members were the same individuals that posted the original spam message, or they were working with that spammer. Those can often be fairly easy to spot.)

Exactly. There's really no point to responding to spammers. Most of them will never see your response anyway. Just report the spam post and be done with it.

Wise words. Spam should just be reported and ignored. Not quoted, not responded too, nothing. All your doing and spreading the spam and bumbping it up to the top of the damn page. It happens too often.

I wonder how hard it would be to turn off the ability to add images into your posts until a user has XXX many posts.

Kinda like with links and such.

Most of this stuff happens from newbies (I mean new accounts). Lots of those new accounts are not new people, just new accounts.

I would think it would not be too hard to make it so a user needs 50 posts before they can insert images. That would stop a lot of the cookie stuffing with invisible images.

No, I don't think you will see the actual images in any browser...just the broken image tags... which can usually be a sign that it's a spammer. And, it will usually be posted by a very new account/username.
