Question for a Youtube Pro...

Hi,

I'm looking into getting into video marketing, but I have a quick question:

If a video is submitted and ranked, can the video be later edited? and if editing is possible does that effect the rankings?

Thanks

I don't think so. Or perhaps more accurately, I haven't found out how to do so.

After editing a video you upload the new one and both appear on the channel, until you remove the version that you don't want. It doesn't over-write the original.

Happy to be proved wrong on that and to admit to being out of date if anyone contradicts my reply.

no it can't. and when you use the youtube video editor it just creates a new video with the changes.

Actually, video marketing in YouTube should probably be thought of as YouTube marketing. I have been doing this for 4+ years now. I never worry about rankings, I would rather go after the millions of people within youtube.

In fact, I'll share some information.

Many people don't know this but youtube has it's own keyword tool found here at https://ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool

Search for youtube videos with their search function and look at the most viewed. Look at the tags they are using, titles, etc. You can mold your video after the ones that are doing well (just don't directly copy them obviously).

You should also make great use of your description and make it a full length article with your keywords.

If you want people to take action and visit your site, the beginning of your description should have your link so that they can see it even when the description is minimized. Invite them to take action in your video, then also invite them to take action with annotations.

The better use of tags the more times your video will appear in the related bar on the right hand side. This is alone where a lot of traffic comes from.

You can also examine videos demographic data by hitting the statistics tab. This can give you valuable information for research such as gender, country, visited from, age bracket, who's linking to it, where the first find was from, etc.

      Hope this helps.

Just adding to the annotations thing you was saying. To further increase the CTR to your link in your description box, you can use Youtube's "Hotspot" to know the best times to put in your annotations for the best results.

If you're not too sure what I'm on about, I made a video on it sometime ago. You can watch it here.

    Hope this helps

Just to mention there's a difference between the YouTube Video editor and the edit video button when you login and look at my videos.

You can tweak your video using this button without losing the youtube love,
eg you can trim it, change colors, contrast, music, and more.
