Is Youtube SEO Real?

HI,

I have heard of doing SEO on your YT video to increase its position in Youtube search results. Does this actually work?

I know that yes, you should do onsite SEO such as keyword in the title, description, and tags, but I am talking about offsite SEO (building backlinks).

Also, does backlinking help the google search results ranking as well?

    I'm guessing no one really knows the answer to this question because YT marketing is fairly new and not looked at as much as Google.

      Yes you are right there is no money to be made on Youtube it is too new! :p

      Just kidding...

      Yes, YouTube marketing is "real" in the sense that it DOES work. However if you are thinking about sticking loads of promotional videos on Youtube you will not get far.

      If you provide videos that are of value to your niche that are of interest then you can do very well with Youtube and it can give you HUGE SEO benefits.

    Hey Augie,

    Yes it works! Sometimes just a few social book marks are enough to get it ranking. There are some very interesting WSO's on the topic which outline the basic principles.

    I've had a number of Videos rank in Google....but the quality of videos will determine what happens with the traffic and whether it converts to $$$

    Yes, that's true... You should do SEO work on your Youtube videos to improve their search rankings... not only on Youtube, but on Google too because it seems Google love to show YT videos in their search results ...

    In general, all basic SEO principles will work for YT videos too ... like keywords in title, in description, in tags, plus link building to videos, etc...
