After i watched the video i was really inspired by it and gained some faith in being both young and successful and that the age, dosn't really matter Then i got little disapointed in myself and and all my fails so far, but after i that i remember the end - don't give up after your first fail, keep trying till you make it and Learn from your mistakes! That's why i will wake up more confident tomorrow and with the inspiration from this video i will realise my ideas !!!!

I wanted to point out one more thing. A lot of people look at these kids and feel it's just too late for them if they are way past their twenties. The guy who started mc donalds came up with the idea at the age of 52 therefore age is just a number. It's all about what's going on in your head. |

His seems to have leveraged the experience of his step father who knew the office chair business inside out because he was doing it for years. So his stepfather knew there was niche and there was a demand in the niche. He also knew suppliers and also had existing intelligence about what the market required. This guy added the internet outlet. This gave them the exposure to scale the business fast. |

And again, the fact he already had suppliers, clients, and an established business to push all probably helped him. Not to mention that the "webscape" has changed drastically in the last five years. if I could go back in time I've no doubt I could easily be ranking for all the search words his site ranks for now.

Just goes to show the power of focus. Find something that works and stick with it til it can stand on it's own before trying something else. A lot of folks get discouraged easily and jump from thing to thing. Picking something you know about and have a passion for really helps in the beginning. Cheers, Shane |

This is a great example of a simple business model that works! The "key" word and the secret of his success is CONSENRTATION on the simple model.

Congrats to this 'kid' for all he has accomplished. It truly is inspirational. But HOW did he accomplish it and HOW can you make it happen for yourself? Let's pick it apart a bit. 1. He had a bit of a headstart because his stepfather was already in the business and had the all-important wholesale contacts for the product. You must be able to purchase at the lowest cost to allow you to offer a lower price to your customers. Price-point is one way to beat the competition. People always love to save money, even purchasing agents for major companies (bulk sales). 2. After working for his stepfather and noticing how easy the business was, he got a vision and a focus: do it online. He locked himself in his bedroom for three days and didn't come out until he had created a website and got it online. He had the inner fortitude to maintain his focus on what he wanted to accomplish and was able to ignore everything else, such as checking emails, cruising the forums, etc. 3. I believe he realized that people like to talk to a real live person, so he got his own 800 number and placed it prominently at the top of his website. Smart move. It automatically makes his company look bigger than it really was (in the beginning) and gives him instant credibility in the eyes of customers, not to mention making the customer feel better about ordering from him even if they only do so online and never call. Just knowing there's a toll-free number in case they have problems goes a long way toward getting someone to place an order. 4. He didn't begin huge, he began small, just like everyone else. He did a lot of the work himself, right down to answering the phones and taking the orders himself. As he made money he could afford to outsource more, and now has his own call center to handle orders. He can now afford to take time away from the business without hurting it. 5. Once the business became large enough, he incorporated to reap the tax benefits. (He may have began as an LLC, and he may have applied for small-business loans to expand. ) Those are just a few of the things I gathered from watching the video. Another word of wisdom form this 'kid': He says to always have a backup plan, just in case plan A doesn't work, and it usually doesn't. Pretty good advice. I think the most important thing you can take from this is he figured out what to do and he did it. It worked, he kept at it and became a raging success. He may not have known exactly what to do at the very beginning but he had an idea. Doing something is almost always better than doing nothing, even if you're not sure about what to do, just do something. The rest will eventually follow and everything will come together. And you would never have heard of him if he had told himself it was a bad idea, it would never work. How many times have you talked yourself out of doing something? So now you have a better idea of how to get rich. So how bad do you want to become a millionaire? |

I find it somewhat odd that when an extraordinary person like this comes along, a lot of people react with... "More young people should get off their butts and be like them." But if more people did it, it wouldn't be extraordinary. Anyway, most people don't have what it takes. That's what makes it so marvelous. And the people with "more people should be like this" reactions don't fully get it. Kinda like the CNN anchors and their reactions/comments at the end of the piece. |

I totally disagree with that part... Life has to be lived....would your want to remember that your teenage years were spent in front of the computer? Personally I dont like people that do that...I don't care how much money he made and stuff like that, I cant tell you something: Hes never had the fun that I had...hes never gonna have the memories that I have...etc... Can he do it later? sure...but certain stages in your life have to be lived in a certain timeframe usually... I don't regret all the times that I came in my dorm room drunk after a wild college party and all the wacky college stuff that I do here...Im young, I'm supposed to have fun and enjoy myself, play videogames, chase girls go to clubs...its not the same feeling if you do it later. Great for him that he did so much money and all...but if that costed him most of his teenage years... And you know something? I still make money...not like him...but I can have fun with them...not the other way around if you know what I mean

I won't say them here because you know what happens THEN, but what I'm thinking of wouldn't work with get rich quick ebooks anyway. A few hints though. He or his father might have happened across them, the prospects would often be PRE QUALIFIED, and it is mostly offline, though a little handshake deal could quickly put it online. One is a deal some communities have. If he isn't advertising, a LOT of his hits may end up in sales if he gives what they consider a good deal. MOST people buying have to do it on the internet, special order, or SETTLE anyway, so he doesn't really have to compete with B&M stores, except on shipping. Even then, maybe his suppliers dropship. It is indeed an inspiring story. But let's be honest. Daddy was in the office chairs game - he provided the niche, the experience, the wholesale sources, the logistics for importing, and probably the "startup" money as well. While it's great that this teenager wasn't stupid enough to throw away the golden ticket, this is not a self-made millionaire in any sense. I'm not trying to be a downer - just a realist.

This actually isn't too hard too achieve... Think about it.. His site gets around 120,000 hits p/m according to compete.com I know a lot of people getting 10 times that traffic and making far far less. What's the secret to his $$? Kid has his own product instead of working his ass off for a measly 1-20$ commission on Amazon and the like. |

How did he get people to the website? That is the main question that is never answered. Any Joe Blow can make a website. He says: "I just created a website and it went from there." Of course he's not going to tell us his marketing methods. But that's the main thing that drove his incredible sales volume. |

I saw a story on him a year or so ago, and if I remember correctly, his father or step-dad was in the furniture biz. It's pretty amazing seeing such a success at age 19, but then again, achieving that level of success would be a great accomplishment at any age!

Don't take this wrong, I think the guy is awesome. I heard them say in the video that his step dad was already in chair sales. I wonder If the step dad set this up as a huge publicity stunt for free national media coverage, to bring in sales/contracts? |
