19 Yr Old Kid OWNS a $30 Million Dollar Empire.

Here is the 19 yr old guy who owns bizchair.com which is about a $30 million dollar company...They basically sell chairs. Has anyone here integrated offline trade with online marketing this well? I guess this sure is a neat idea. Check out his video-

there was a book i think it was called "The Maui CEO" that talks about this same sort of thing that the kid did. finding products overseas to import into a warehouse and then sell online in places like ebay. im sure he did a lot of the typical things other people do.

use ebay as a client creation tool and send them a catalogue with every los leader product you sell and make more money of the back end. then market to colleges and small business through their magazines and popular authority sites. next thing you know, bam your a millionaire,

also keep in mind he started at 14, so it took him 5 years to get to this point please do not think you can just jump in and be a millionaire overnight.

Great Video! Personally I don't feel surprised to see young folks succeeding in business, they are usually tech savvy, enthusiastic, bubbling with ideas, have age on their side and know that if something fails they can move on in life whereas as you age you are faced with a lot more constraints like balancing your family and work, the pressure of having to constantly deliver to provide food to your family etc.

This guy is great. And it just goes to show that IM is not all about info products. Real concrete products will always have a certain advantage over info products.

The internet is a big place and all things are possible. I remember when working for yellow pages online i rang a dude who had a simple rugby league t-shirt site which was pulling in 20K a month. This guy was just a simple hick who had only ever sold from his little store before and was now a multi millionare.

office furniture
home office furniture
etc.

What I pulled out of it is that you need a mentor.

His father was already in the chair business. The son took an idea and ran with it.
I am sure that his father taught him the basics of the business. Maybe supplied the chairs from his own inventory. Dad probably took him by the hand in many areas of importing, inventory control etc.

I would be willing to bet his success came from a mentor who cared about his success and guided him along the way.

Of course the son took the ball and ran, but the coach was behind him all the way.

I think it is just amazing a business like this can be started by a 14 year old, although no doubt the father did play a large hand in it.

there are some small holes in the technique but for the most part it works. In his book he talks more about getting larger items. ones that you would order in freight since most ebayers wont go this route. think large outdoor play sets, pool tables, whatever as long as it can not be flown in. he specifically did grand pianos i think.

of course the technique works, i mean heck, this kid was a millionaire at 19, there is marketing involved and i doubt this guy had a warehouse when he first started. the video said he had four chairs right? so he probably started out of his garage. not a bad way to go if you are willing to put in the work and the time - remember 5 years

A lucky pick of a niche I suppose. It doesn't seem that this idea
is too complicated. A website, a good niche and physical products
with high profit margins.

Furniture have one of the highest profit margins for physical products.

There are very few successful people at that age because they aren't interested in running their own business, don't know how, don't have parents in the biz to pave the way, etc. There are plenty of kids who don't party, chase women, etc that also aren't successful like this guy.

I feel it's all about their environment. Whatever they see around them they tend to adapt to it. The kid must have seen his dad and got inspired.

But it's interesting to see how several people struggle all their life and never even get to a million while some know how to do the right thing at the right time to reap the benefits.
