I agree, a mentor in your online efforts as a newbie are vital, as a good mentor will always be on hand, and will keep you focused on each task you have to do.

My mentor has always and is still great, and as I am starting to make some money, I am reinvesting it back into my business as per his instructions. As regards to dremaing, there is nothing wrong with dreaming my friend, but make sure you channel that dream into smaller goals that you know you will achieve each day to get you to overall goal.

It doesn't have to be either one way or the
    other.

Yes, it's a great idea to have a coach, someone
with the track record who can help you develop
the right strategy, guide you in making the right
    decisions and keep you focussed.

And, you should also build a network of peers.
People who are a similar level to you, people with
whom you can bounce ideas, people with skills
and experience that will compliment yours.

I haven't had a mentor in the slightest. I have no network of peers. It's just me...It's only ever been me!

I'd consider myself a dreamer, it's all I'd do if I let myself. That might be why I got into this IM stuff, but I can be realistic at the same time. I'm cocky as F & have always expected a lot out of life. Basically I just did something and when it didn't work, I did a lot of reading, "wasted" a lot of time, and I worked my but off! I don't believe there is any system that anyone is going to teach you to getting rich. Don't waste your money. Use your money to get creative. If you need someone else to teach you how to make your money, you've just missed the boat with this thing. Go try something else. That's my opinion.

Come up with an idea and just do something...anything! Even if it sucks, at least you're doing something and you will develop as a person and do something better next time.

If you have no experience of working with a coach
or within a mastermind group how do you know it
      won't work?

There are a heck of a lot of people who have the
opposite opinion to yours... people with experience
of working with others to build successful online
      businesses.

Who knows maybe with someone legit I could have saved money in the long run and really had a jumpstart. That is a really good point. I'm just skeptical of what they actually provide you with.

For the record, are we talking like a business coach that you pay? or someone successful that knows the ins and outs that you were lucky enough to meet that wants to help you?

I work with paying clients and I help other
people out on an ad hoc basis.

I also have my own coach and I network
with several other people in a mastermind
          group.

Sure, I could do it on my own, but it's great
to have other people to bounce ideas off and
who can help me achieve things faster than I
          ever could on my own.

I agree! A mentor and/or a mastermind group could be the difference between failure and success! But you need to be open minded and social for it to work!

I say yu are all wrong there. Learning and how we learn differ fro all of us. The cost of a coaching program may be worth t for some, but for instance the coaching program (Mentor me C****) I am hearing nothing but moans from... a $1000 ticket and no-one getting any returns!

Every time I have paid someone higher than me on the ladder for help it has helped me 100X more than the outlay.

There are some here who try coaching and fail due to inaction.

I am not one of them.

Mentors can be expensive. Plus when you teach the stuff by yourself you get a big satisfaction.

The secret is that there is no secrets. You can earn a bunch of money by just implementing the strategies that you can find on this forum. Like you've said, your a dreamer and not a go-getter. Make action today!

If you know a millionaire in the I marketing game and he is willing to give coaching, help you out - it would be worth a lot of time, experience and money. Buying courses from people who have little or average success in the IM will quickly lead to failure. I proactively search for successful people to help me out.
