I want to learn how to create a pdf file so i can sell it or does it matter..i have it as a word document..how do i switch it over?

Hi Reese,

You have several options.

You can purchase or download the trial of Adobe Acrobat and use it to convert from Word to PDF.

You can use Google's OpenOffice to paste the word file, then convert it to PDF. (I haven't used this, but I have heard it works fine, it should be free as well)

You can also download a trial of a program such as NitroPDF, or buy the full version.

If you are using Office 07, you can download a converter from MS,
Download details: 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF

It is a fast download and a quick install, no restart required. After
it is installed, You click on the Word icon (upper left corner) click on
"save as" and then on pdf. you wind up with both versions, pdf and
Word. Really nice. I am impressed with 07.

Reese,

I agree with Ray. OpenOffice Writer is a terrific, and free, alternative to using MS Word.

And creating a PDF with it is just a mouse click away. Inside, there is a small PDF button on the top toolbar. Once you have your document looking the way you want it, all you need to do is click the PDF icon in the top toolbar, give your new ebook a name, and bam! It's done.

Almost instant PDF that doesn't cost you a penny.

  I think OpenOffice is great. However for converting PDF files that you want to distribute rather than for personal use I'm pretty sure there aren't any security settings. I just checked that out and there aren't. I suppose it's not that much of an issue however people are free to copy and paste your work and the like at the touch of a button. There's also often "glitches" (like wonky paragraph formatting/conversion). Just something to keep in mind.

I use open office for making PDF's have never had any problems doing that way. I would recommend it.

there are many pdf creator softwares which also convert word to pdf. but i personally orefer foxit pdf creator

  I use a free program called CutePDF that shows up as a printer in your Print.. dialog. I'd put the url here for the download but I don't have enough posts yet (I think). Do a search on Google for 'cutepdf'.

  There are many pdf creation solutions - but which ones keep all the links and URL's intact from the word doc to the PDF?
  
  I have been holding onto Adobe acro - full ver 5.x for many years as I have many customized toolbar buttons, that cannot be programatically adapted to newer versions of acrobat [thanks adobe!!!]
  
  I can generate all sorts of PDF - but I have to go back thru the doc an manually add all the links! - sucks OUTLOUD ...

I use open office for pdf's I need to secure.

For everything else I use PDF Converter, Create PDF Online Free, Document to PDF Conversion Service - Convert Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Images, Web Pages to PDF

Just browse for your word doc. and then press convert.

Yep, OpenOffice rocks, I couldn't believe you could create PDFs for free with it til I used it, up until then you had to sign up for a free adobe service which gave you limited conversions.
