    Hi Bobby,

I guess it depends on what you want to use it for. I've got Camtasia for my screen capture work and I've been pretty happy with the results.

    Best of luck.

It really depends on what you are trying to do. For simple web tutorials, Cantasia works. If you are wanting to produce higher quality videos, you could go with Sony Vegas (under $50). If you are wanting more advanced stuff, then Adobe Premiere with After Effects or Apple's Final Cut Pro would be the way to go.

Camtasia your best bet, but it is pricey. Saying that though there is a free trial me thinks.

if you want to cut/join HD videos (even from an mkv file) and add watermarks with more effects..you can try xilisoft's video converter

For other things go with Camtasia

camtasia, I think this is good

many other video editors, but the quality was not very good rendering. The original video looks good, but the end result will look blurry after editing.. but if we use camtasia it will not happen..

    no limit time..

You need to tell us what you actually want to DO with your "video software".

Jing is screen capture software. Jing Pro costs very little and has no time limit, FYI. But if you need other features, there are other software packages available.

Ask better questions, get better answers.

Unless it's strictly screen capture you're after you'll want your software to support a 3D environment. It's amazing what even a novice can do with that capability.

And programs like Blender are free.

I use Camtasia, I think it's by far the best.

You can get a 30 day free trial and then it's £230.50 to buy, which is pretty expensive but I guess it depends how much your going to use it?

For screen capture I use Camtasia. For editing I use nothing but Sony Vegas Pro because it has a small footprint (minimal ram/cpu usage) and is powerful as all hell. Anything I want to do can damn near be done in this little program, editing wise that is.

Not sure if you're still looking for feedback but I was experiencing the same issue BloggingPro was talking about. I purchased a powerful laptop with an intel i7 processor and as soon as I installed Camtasia it fried my processor (but didn't know it at that time). After I get my laptop back (thank goodness for backups), I re-installed Camtasia and it fried my processor again.

I have a 'monster' of a laptop and this should not have happened. Did a bunch of research and found many gamers are having the same issue with Camtasia and Toshiba apparently is being sued for faulty processors.

Just saying - know that what BloggingPro is saying is of great value. Check the cpu for whatever program you want against your computer's capability.

Blueprint--Im not sure Camtasia has anything to do with "Frying your Laptop". Unless it has viruses. Maybe the power supply is going bad or it could mean many things actually. I have used it for years both on and off the laptop with no issues. I hope it works out for you becuase it is a great piece of software.

    Best of luck!

Camstudio is another free alternative to Camtasia. I can't vouch for the quality though as I've never used it.

I would echo what has already been said.

Camtasia ia primarily designed for screen capture work but can be used for some basic editing. I love the program, it is simple, intuitive and powerful.

I also recently bought Sony Vegas Pro and am still finding my way around it but it is pretty awesome.

There are a lot of choices, in screen video, and also for regular video, most of them have a nice price tag, there are some free ones out there, but you need to have some understanding of how to use editors too.

I use a MAC so there are a lot more choices for the MAC platform, some are very affordable, but if you on windows there are only a few free choices, one is Download | t@b ZS4 Free Video Editing Software

(It does not do screen recordings,) but I think it is a good free introduction to video editing and if you find it works for some of your editing needs that may guide you into where to put your money.

I have owned camtasia in the past, but to be honest, I just do not like it, it spits out ugly looking files, that are interdependant on each other to work, it is not cross browser friendly, and there are is a learning curve, there as well, prepare to spend time learning about that expensive software.

And there is that other program cam studio, (but it can be a little buggy, from time to time,) again its free, so hey you cant really complain much,) If you want to get your feet wet and play around with some interesting stuff in screen recording, I found a really interesting one, (I have to go find it) (it has a yearly fee, which is cheap) but they have a free branded option. too.

PM me if you want that link,

I like Camtasia. There is a free 30 day trial out now that I'm using. It's a little tricky to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty quickly.

I'd echo that if you want to get into editing 'live' video get tailor-made video editing
software. Get to grips with Vegas now so you'll know it well when you start getting
more creative. It's a great investment in your video education. Use screen capture software for screen capture.

It depends on what you are using it for. For video editing I would be using Sony Vegas. For desktop capture I would be using Camtasia. Just my 2 cents.
