Should I assume somethings wrong

It been more than 48 hours since I change my nameservers at my register domainorb to the nameservers given to me by hostgator.

At the time I received the message DNS change successful and I have done this before.

It has never taken this long before should I assume I have made a mistake somewhere.

It shouldn't take that long. Check first that you entered the new DNS records correctly, then contact HG support and/or your domain registrar support to see what's wrong. Most are very willing to help.

If your ISP caches the old information, it will take long.
Delete all cache (this is your own browser cache, don't get confused) from your IE/Firefox, restart and try again. If it does not work, then your ISP should be taking longer to refresh - ask someone else who uses a different ISP to test your site and see if it works.
If it does not, contact Hostgator.
