    Blog - Constantly Updating

    Website - Can be static

Blog - seems more personal to me

Websites - less personal to me

I'd take a blog over a site anyday but it depends on what you're trying to do. How about using a website and having a blog on it? Best of both worlds isn't it?

    my personal preferences.....

    blogs. period.

    simple, easy content management
change theme / appearance in minutes
change layout in minutes / sitewide changes in minutes
thousands of plugins to use for different tasks, that don't get lost with a new template
    rss feed

with the current themes on offer you can create a blog that looks like a site

you can have a static page as a home page, allowing you to have a site and a blog in one (yet with a plugin you can have rss for the pages as well)

it seems that google (and yahoo) shares my sentiment, looking at the spider activity in awstats. msn seems to pay relatively little attention.....

But frequent posts do not necessarily mean good content, right?

So, as far as the SE's are concerned, blogs are better. But if you are selling products, I think websites may be better.

I favor WP blog as cms. Blogs that look like well-designed web sites get my vote.

Blogs that look like blogs, and use crappy templates, really suck.

Many blogs ARE websites. And many websites ARE blogs.

I've been wondering the same thing, but I'd have to agree with many of the post above that I would think a blog would be better than a static website. I'd much rather buy something that is constantly being updated opposed to a nonpersonal static website.

Blogs are always my preference. Rank very well in the search engines, it's so easy to add new content and the software is free.

The only exception is PPC campaigns as it's a little more tricky to track keyword conversions.
