Paypal playing some kind of game?

I have many regular customers who have purchased from me for years in some cases.

So I get a payment on hold because 'Paypal suspect it may not have been done with the buyers knowledge'

This is a regular customer who has made multiple purchases with the same credentials so.....

Why do they think this might not be a valid transaction?

I suspect they just pull one every now and then for no reason whatsoever....which is OK...BUT...why try to convince me that this is a suspect transaction when all the evidence (repeat purchases) says it is legitimate?

Has anyone else had this issue? It's not the first time I've had this but this one just annoyed me.

This could be something as simple as the customer has changed ISP's, and therefore, his/her IP address has changed, or they used a different credit card for this purchase.

Maybe their wife's credit card, but the same email address.

Just about anything could trigger this, and it's generally no cause for alarm. Typically, the transaction comes off hold in a matter of a couple of days.

      Thanks Sid,

You're probably right. I guess it's just my natural business paranoia.

What you said makes perfect sense.

      Cheers

It doesn't happen to me very often, but it does happen. It has always been resolved within a day or two and the purchase ended up being legitimate. Don't know how or why they choose certain transactions. In my case, they were a little large (sold a site on Flippa) and they were not a repeat buyer of mine.
