I'm would like to try to use RSS. I have a mixture of social media, blogs and networking sites. 8 at present but I want to increase these. I want to do one blog post on wordpress and send this to the other 7.
1) Can I do this?
2) Do I have to use html?
3) Will my post be full content or summary on these sites?
4) Do social media, blogs and networking sites all have rss on them?
Please help if you can. I'm doing well thanks to the help from the members here and I'm desperate to move to the next level.

    1) Sure you can.
    2) You can have any HTML code in your posts (including embeddable objects, tables, javascript etc)
    3) You can choose it by yourself.
    4) Most of social media, blogs and networking sites all have the RSS feeds. E.g: rss subscribe - Google Search

I'd also suggest you to try this freeware WordPress RSS parsing plugin: WordPress › CyberSyn « WordPress Plugins

Thanks a lot for that help. I spent hours googling without result before posting here. Every item assumed that I knew all about rss but just wanted to talk about how good it is. Since your replies I have been trying to start rss. Same problem again. I'm absolutely bewildered by all the info and options. Does anybody have a link to get started with? A simple one please. Thanks again for help so far.

You just need to create post on one blog. Then get it's rss feed and parse it,using any script.
Here is the video, how tbp do it . Basically you add rss feed url of this blog, tbp will parse it and post to your other blogs. If needed it will translate or synonimise it,before posting.

    Here's the score:

    RSS 101.....

RSS is just the name for a way of expressing information - like .html or .php etc... It's just data packaged so that it can be read be the relevant reader (in this case an RSS reader program, or your web browser).

So - there are 2 sides to it - You're either sharing your data, or reading someone elses.

If you're sharing yours then the easiest way is to use something like Wordpress which has the ability built in and you just need to find your rss url, which for my blog would be - Turn To Andy For Internet Marketing Advice

So for your site just swap the domain name and leave the rest on the end.

To control what comes out just go to the Settings section of your Wordpress admin area and look for Reading Settings.

    You will then see:

Syndication feeds show the most recent x items
(you set the number of items you want to include)

For each article in a feed, show x
(you select Full Text or Summary)

That's it. You then just share your url or use it in your reader etc.

If you are reading other people's RSS feeds then you need some sort of reader.

In my case I have many sites so I actually syndicate my own content to my network of sites, so I use my own Wordpress plugin to check my sites for updates and create new posts or pages on my other sites when they update.

You could equally do the same thing but bring in other people's content to your site, including Twitter feeds, Facebook feeds, article syndication site feeds.

For example, if you wanted to show a feed with articles on dog grooming from ezine articles, you could use their Pets rss feed: Book-Reviewsets Articles from EzineArticles.com

There are some free wordpress plugins that offer basic functionality for display a feed like that.

I use custom scripts to curate feeds which only contain the elements I want from what exists and then automatically build content sites from them and update automatically, and also syndicate my own content around my own network.

If you're sharing your own rss feed then there are also tools and services for submitting those to rss sharing sites to help spread the word of your feed.
