Namecheap is driving me nuts.

Hey warriors,

Anyone experiencing terrible lag from the namecheap page? Even if it's not the promotion... the lag is just freaking horrible. I can't even purchase domains like I do on a daily schedule.

I load the shopping cart, it lags, then loads. I click checkout, it lags, then loads. When I reach the page where I can click pay with paypal, the whole thing lags, then tells me that there are 0 items in my cart. I redo the process, and it still doesn't work.

Even if it's huge traffic on their site... They should have expected it. They're such a big company and I certainly don't believe they don't have the capabilities of having one, or even predicting the need for preparations.

Am I ranting only as one person?

It was completely unpleasant because I took 3 hours loading Namecheap, and 5seconds to load Google, and all sorts of different country IP sites.

I tried going to support but it throws me a status error or a "Service Unavailable" page. WF's the only other place I can come to. : /

Apparently it's the cyber Monday offer, I heard they even went down altogether for a bit. I'm not surprised either and I should think it's is purely from the promotion.

Probably best to wait until it's all over.

Perhaps they should but they haven't. It is however, out of your control though, so not really worth getting stressed about.

I wish I had control over that... Really huge projects going - Namecheap just had to go off like that. I guess I'll just *try* to destress as you advised.

Not much you can do about it. It's a commercial sites dream to be busy on Cyber Monday.

They still maintain that 99% uptime. Use math to calculate. They are only down for about 2 hours out of the whole year, this means their uptime is 99.977%. Say they have these kinds of deals 4 times per year, their uptime remains 99.908% which is what they are advertising.

I was about to order 1-2 new domains but the website is completely down :-(

    Is Namecheap Down or Not

I have one hosting account with them too and all their servers are still running good.

This happened to me on Friday when I purchased four domains through their 99cent offer. It took me a half hour to get through the checkout process. Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and around Christmas are their busiest times. You would think they would plan for this but they don't. It could be that they are already losing money on the promotion, they don't want to spend anymore on upgrading servers etc just for a few days out of the year.

You can plan for things like these, have load balancing, cloud server mirrors and all of the funky bells and whistles and still crash the server or have it "hang". It's just the way the Internet is.

The Namecheap folks are pretty awesome so if they have slow-downs or timeouts once in a while when they're running deals, just breathe and remember your calming words..."woosah"

Hmmm....I have godaddy and have been considering moving over to namecheap due to all of the godaddy issues lately. Guess I shouldn't?

The situation reported here is so rare it should not be any concern at all whether to switch to them as a domain provider. It was not clear to me either if this was an isolated issue from the OP. As it has been over a week since this issue was brought up here, I have not seen any slow loading of namecheap.com.

I know that I experienced some issues on Cyber Monday, but other than that, have never had a bad experience with Namecheap.
