If It Weren't For Bad Luck, I'd Have No Luck At All

It always amazes me when I see people ranting about:
  • How luck is against them;
  • They are having no luck;
  • Luck is smirking at them;
  • They have just never been lucky enough to attain success.

I have got some news for you folks...

Successful people seldom use the word "luck" in their vocabulary...

Because "luck" suggested that "success is something that happens to them," instead of "success being something they created for themselves."

Almost without fail, successful people will tell you they are successful because they took charge of their own lives... They will tell you that "luck" had nothing to do with their success...

And for you old people, I know what you are thinking, so I beat you to the punch... LOL

    Luck is the result of careful planning, knowledgeable action and extreme effort.

    Learn how to achieve what you're wishing for
    Understand how others have achieved it
    Create a plan to allow you to achieve it
    Kick ass with that plan until you achieve it

    Don't ask me to do that for "The Law of Attraction"...the Saints kick off in an hour.

    It's true. Good business people are created through hard work and dedication and are not born that way, contrarily to popular belief.

    I agree with this sentiment 100%. I stopped believing in luck some time ago. I don't play the lottery for this reason, although that's a numbers game that I wouldn't mind winning.

    Success takes lots and lots of time and sweat equity. There's no way around it that you've got to pay your dues - roll your sleeves up and get to work. Of course, when that big success does come along, it seems like it was easy to some and they'll call you lucky.

    LOL...thanks for the HeeHaw memories from my childhood.

    A bunch of them have said that. (I believe one of them had a book by that title.) Along with Samuel Goldwyn (way before the golfers), Zig Ziglar, and who-knows-how-many others.

    No matter who said it first, it's a good thought to keep in mind.

    According to the wise man King Solomon there's is something
    called "luck":

    Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 states, “I have seen something else under the sun: The race
    is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or
    wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to
    them all. Moreover, no man knows when his hour will come: As fish are caught in
    a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so men are trapped by evil times that
    fall unexpectedly upon them.”

    Without "luck" or "chance" life would be meaningless.

      I failed miserably before solidifying our 6 figure business.

      Yes I mean failed worse than ever too and racked up huge debt buying every product under the sun.

      I almost gave up twice, but I had to make it work. Failure is ok, and you must welcome it, because the faster you fail, the faster you know what to NOT do again.

      For us, the number #1 secret to making money online / offline, is just keep doing things that do work and stop doing things that do not work. Common sense 101 really...but if you try 10 things, 8 things are bound to fail..... 1 thing work ok and another thing will work gangbusters. So the quicker you find that 8 that do not work the better.

      There is so much power in those last few sentences and it is how we turned around our businesses very quickly.

      I think good luck....well if there is such a thing, is not GOOD LUCK at all. It is just where lots of preparation meets opportunity. The rest is fate taking hold really.

    It's easy to discredit luck and think that everything is based
    on smarts and hard work but if hard work was what it took
    then slaves should be rich.

    It's not often that rewards come to the most talented,
    hard working and persistent. It's hard to arrive at
    success without those elements but they are not
    guarantees. Everybody needs a little good luck.

    Maybe you were lucky to born in the right town,
    family country, ethnicity etc., What you do
    with those "advantages" it's all up to you and
    some good luck.

    Too cool on the Grandpa Jones reference.

    I think chance plays into your life some what. I mean you have internet access, you're not in some remote village in the jungle. But, I think that's about as far as it goes.

    Someone once told me something along the lines as luck is making the most of an opportunity. I'd have to pretty much agree.

    I believe it was Warren Buffett who said that if he and Gates was not born in the right place and time they would not have had the opportunites he had to have the wealth he has. He went on to say that if he was in another country and the technology was inferior that he/Gates would have had no chance.
