Article Marketing is Better Than PPC..For Newbies

Almost everyone fails at affiliate marketing because they lose money at first and then give up completely.

Article Marketing is great because it doesn't cost you anything to begin.

A lot of 'pros' hate bum marketing because it is too much work for not enough return. But for beginners they should definately give it a go.

You literally have no money to lose as all your traffic is completely free.

Article marketing is fast and easy and many people never even write the articles themselves. Great for linking and being seen as an authority in your field of expertise

Good point about getting others to write the articles for you

Although I do not do article marketing, I do agree that it is a great platform for those just starting out.

One, it immediately gets you DOING something. You get the experience of niche research(for determining what market you are writing for), you learn to write for a targeted audience, you can start small and work your way to bigger things, and it allows you the time to learn and grow.

All of these things are great for learning experiences. Some people do make a nice living article marketing as well!

I'm diving into Article Marketing right now. It is a lot to learn, so i bought a WSO that clearly laid out what to do to get started. I know that I have to write a lot of targeted articles until income rolls in and I can afford a ghostwriter.

I recently saw a forum post where a member wrote 200 articles and received $800+ so far, and I'm sure that it will continue to earn him income for some time. I love writing, so I'm looking to knock out 300 articles to work towards my goal of $100 a day going by March. Will it be a lot of work and take some time? Without a doubt, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Wish me luck!

Totally agree. Content is where it's at. The more content you provide and get out there on the web, the more opportunities you have to get people laying eyes on your web pages.

All it takes is time and a little bit of patience. And getting the necessary tools to speed the process up is beneficial as well.

Free marketing just feels right... lol

Paid traffic is where it's at.

    BUT...

For Newbies Bum Marketing is good to build up some cash and learn marketing.

However, staying with only "free" traffic for too long can be big mistake.

I love article marketing. You see instant results and very little out of pocket, even if you outsource.

I'm not bashing PPC.. it's something that I plan to get into soon. I just have to learn it before i try it.

That's what I heard about paid traffic that it wasn't targeted traffic so it's not so good. If people coming aren't after what you have what's the sense in them coming? Isn't article marketing targeted traffic and also free unless you pay for the articles. Then it isn't free it's paid.

If you learn to do it right, PPC can provide very targeted traffic. It's fast and you have a lot of control. However you must learn to be cautious with your bids and track which keywords are effective if you are to profit.

The Top Tier (large) search engines like Google and Yahoo are also tops with the quality of traffic they can provide. The 2nd and 3rd Tier (smaller) search engines are often (though not always) a waste of money.

Then there is the stage where you buy the traffic that doesn't belong to the search engines - that's for the very experienced.

Article marketing has many benefits, including back links, some targeted traffic, and getting indexed. There are many benefits - including profits - in learning to do it effectively. It's a great place for beginners to start and, if you learn to do it well, it's worth persisting with.

    Hi,
I also prefer article marketing as that is what had given me my first sale.
Now, I am earning much more than before and am getting my articles outsourced.
I am just going on increasing my VRE using articles and content in various places on the internet. Ppc is much more risky and a person can lose a lot of money if he is not careful.

    bye,

I agree that article marketing is the way to go. You can lose your shirt with PPC if you don't know what you're doing. If you are serious about getting into article marketing I would recommend you do a search on this forum for Jeremy Kelsall's WSO's. He really has some great stuff on article marketing. I owe him for finally getting me going in the right direction and having some success.

    Agreed!

Learning PPC is normally a losing situation for a newbie.

Article and content marketing lasts longer, has more benefits and can be free provided one doesn't mind submitting the articles to the top 20 article directories.

And there are so many other ways to stretch and disseminate your content/articles all over the net to make a even bigger impact on your niche.

You don't even have to write the articles yourself and get a quality article written for you for under $10 each.

      "Article marketing is free...."

I hear that a lot, but I think that depends on how much you VALUE YOUR TIME.

I started off with article marketing about a year or so ago. Generated a bit of income but nothing to shout about. The problems for me were:

      1. It would take me an hour to write each article
      2. I did not get any consistency in the levels of traffic. Some days dozens of clicks. Other days hardly anything.

At the beginning of December last year I decided to switch to PPC.

So far on one campaign I've grossed over $3000 with around $200 Adspend. Aside from a very good ROI, the traffic is consistent. I can pretty much guarantee how many sales I will average each day/week.

I also have another campaign where I am only just breaking even, in fact, making a small loss. However, my quality score is on the up and I'm gradually being able to reduce my CPC.

The best thing is though, I don't have to keep churning out articles. I set my campaign up, and now just log in every couple of days to check things, but apart from that it's hands-off.

If you are writing articles, make sure you put a price on your time - say $500/day - and then ask yourself if you think you are getting good value for money.

    I could not agree less.

There is an extreme cost to article
marketing - it's called time required
in *hope* of producing a result.

If you learn how to do PPC
    *correctly* you can earn money
    today.

If I had a little more time right
now, I'd be happy to prove the
point - I'd take any article marketing
whiz with a newbie versus me
coaching a newbie to use PPC and
    we'd kick their ass.

    Guaranteed.

Then, while you're still waiting to make
some money, we'll use the money we're
already making to then hire someone
full-time in the Phillipine's to do what
    you're trying to do.

It'd be like John Henry trying to beat
the machine. I am the machine.

It depends. PPC can be extremely profitable IF you take the time and effort to learn it and master it. The PROBLEM IS many don't take the time to learn it. Even worse they learn a little and implement based on the little knowledge that they have and end up burning their hands.

As X rightly said there is a extreme cost to article marketing - it's called time required in *hope* of producing a result.

If you want instant results, go for PPC, BUT first take the time to master it. Article marketing is great and will always work but it may take some time for you to reap the rewards of your HARDWORK.

I know some will disagree, but I actually think Commission Blueprint is a great resource. The geek in me liked the fact that it's a repeatable process and has rules for determining profitable keywords and scaling campaigns.

However, you do need a certain amount of cash up front to follow the programme and do expect to fail some of the time, so it's not for the faint hearted. It also focuses on Clickbank products which in my opinion doesn't have a lot of 'quality' stuff in there, but the process is repeatable for any products.

PPC is all about testing, tweaking, testing... so make sure you record your results methodically so you learn what works and what doesn't.

PPC builds no backlinks or authority. AM is slow in the short term, but in the long run you can stop writing and the checks keep coming in, plus you have an established site.

Very true-but article marketing, along with on-and-off site SEO, can be done while you are running a PPC campaign to generate profit and tweak landing pages for better conversions.

I personally won't say one is better than the other for newbies, as there are to many variables. But PPC is the quickest way to test your offer and the other pieces of your marketing machine.

@ Charles Butler- You can get a decent overview of adwords and PPC from this forum, and any number of free reports that have the same basic information. After understanding the basics of PPC, I'd personally suggest "Double Digit CTR" by James Schramko. Also, if you can get your hands on any PPC stuff by X, his stuff is worth it's weight in gold.
