Does Amazon allow you to purchase from your own link?

I'm getting ready to do something holiday shopping and not really looking to game the system but wondering if Amazon allows you to purchase from your own link. And if not - Any good affiliates out there that need some good luck?

Any bonuses? :rolleyes:

        Thats not true. I have my wife by from my affiliate links all the time with her account. Plus my parents as well. I have made commission on all of it.

          Technically, you can buy through your own link, but Amazon will NOT credit you for that sale!

          I buy through my friend's link.

          My friends in real life (who are not affiliate marketers!) are loyal to me and buy through my link! I volunteer to compile a community bulletin each week, so lots of local folks whom I don't know personally also buy through my link.

          Life is good...

    Amazon don't allow you to purchase from your links, but I think you can buy from your own A-Store... Please check this with Amazon...

    maybe the system only allow the purchase from different ip addresses,if you or your family buy from your affiliate link.It will be considered as cheating.amazon is smart to stop this action.

    Amazon states that their system will automatically void commissions on purchases made through one's own affiliate link.

    I had never tested this claim until the other day when I "accidentally" did some Christmas shopping after testing one of my own links in conjunction with a new tag I'd created. "Wow," I thought, "some chick must be shopping for England - and they have impeccable taste!" ... then I sparked up a brain cell (one is all I've got ) and realised it was my order and that I hadn't earned a red cent.

    Moral of the story: I'm stupid. No-one has taste as impeccable as mine. LOL.

    No, you won't get credit.

    BUT...just create a new account under a different email address...it takes 2 minutes. Then log in under that new account...then order through your original affiliate links and you will get affiliate credit then.

    Does Amazon penalize associates for using cloaked links? I have heard some stories of this but never could find it in their terms that associates can't cloak their links. Maybe the ones who had their accounts taken away were doing something else black hat?

    You can in a technical sense but you’ll only make a fraction if anything on what you would have been paid had you sold the same item to someone else through your link. I have bought a few items through my own link and have received very little (a couple of cents to a few dollars) to absolutely nothing depending on what I purchased. It does seem to increase conversion rates on purchases made by other customers though.

     I wouldn’t consider it cheating as I own several websites in different niches and often buy many of the products that I sell to either test tracking links or because I happen to sell products that I have genuine interest in. Many are these purchases are made after I have already sold the product to other people so I can try it for myself and write first hand reviews.
