My November Traffic Stats: What am I doing wrong?

November was the first month of having my website up.

I wrote/submitted 50 articles

created/submitted 50 videos
created 50 web2.0 sites
created/submitted 50 PAD file
created/submitted 50 PDFs

Total traffic: 595 visitors.

What am I do wrong here? It seem like a lot of effort for such little return.

I am promoting a digital camera. A very popular one. (Amazon Associates program)

What kind of numbers were you expecting? I don't see 600 visits as all that bad when you consider Google's Freshness update. It is a brand new site yes?

Were all the articles 100% original?

What platform is the site built on?

    Are your articles SEO'd?

Have you submitted your sitemap to Google?

Oh, and most importantly, can we get a link to the site?

I'm not trying to be cheeky, it's just that it could be a number of things...

Nothing's wrong. Traffic doesn't happen overnight, especially with a brand new site. Traffic grows over time. When your site is first new, the search engines have to decide where to place you based on all kinds of factors. Just keep doing what you're doing. Getting traffic is an on-going process.

    Good luck,
    Joey

    Ha Ha!

Oh, and most importantly, can we get a link to the site? No
That may be your biggest problem.

    Your website isn't a private P.O. Box, it's a Billboard!

You submitted a lot of content, which I assume all had links back to your site, for others to follow. Do you think for a minute that they are going to just drop you a line saying, "Oh, BTW... did you know that if you did x, and then y, you would get a whole lot more traffic?".

You came here asking for help. I assume because you expected there were some here who could/would help. Then you decided that the site you're attempting to share with the world, was somehow too sensitive to share with the group here. DOES NOT COMPUTE

If you really want help... turn off call-blocking. People are trying to help you, and it isn't last month's 595 visitors.

595 visitors for a 25 day old site isn't too bad.

Remember, all those articles, videos, and PADs you submitted are still going to be there promoting your site.

Here's what I recommend: put another article on YOUR site. A link bait article. Nothing promotional, but a super informative article with an interesting headline.

The goal here is to get people linking to that article without you having to write and promote 250 pages of minutia yourself.

Then, I would do a guest post on a more established photography site.

As said above, your doing well so far. It is a lot of work so consider other traffic methods, test them out and see how well they do.

Also be sure that your getting these articles indexed on your site first, then distribute them.

It doesn't hurt to increase your site's authority.

TheNewGuy2010, Looks like you have done lot of works within short period of time. If honestly speaking, final results are insufficient due to the effort.

    Where's the wrong?

Nothing wrong here actually, except lack of experience (I'm really not depressing you, all top level internet marketers have faced to same situation at their beginnings).

    So, what should you do?

The success entirely doesn't depend on the amount of works you have done. It depends on "How accurately you have implemented them according to your ultimate objectives?" Unfortunately, no body can achieve it overnight because that's something depends of experience.

Nothing wrong, you're on the right direction. Continue...........

    Good luck

      Hi SScot,

are you saying according to the amount of content that I am putting out, the traffic does add up to the effort I've used?

Well, I do know I have to put a lot of content on the net.

Maybe others will chime in. I'm more confused now than ever.........LOL

Of course NOT, the thing I did was I compared your effort (created/submitted 50 videos, created 50 web2.0 sites, created/submitted 50 PAD file, created/submitted 50 PDFs) with a well experienced internet marketer who has done the same work. Definitely, he takes more traffic than you.

So, according to your present skills and talents, it's enough. But that's not the maximum.

Really, I'm not depressing you. I'm encouraging you to think in advance than now. As I personally believe, it's better than telling "You have already gotten enough traffic".

Exactly right...It takes time...some people would have already put a down payment on a new car when they see 600 visitors(wrong move!).

Your going in the right direction, and with a new website it isnt bad. As time progresses you will see your articles gain a higher ranking, which will drive more traffic to your site. Also make sure you SEO optimize each article and do not post duplicate content. Duplicate content is a good way to waste your precious time.

SEO encompasses many techniques. Put them all to use and always dedicate some time to learning new methods. Put them all to use and you will see results. Maybe not tomorrow, but next week or next month perhaps!

    Take Care,
    Mark Jones

The most important things not discussed so far are:

    1. What ranking is your site for your primary keyword?

    2. How many exact monthly searches does your primary keyword get?

I did check the competition and everything out and MOST of the top 20 were not well optimized at all for the keyword. Ecommerce websites, like Amazon,etc...

Is that 600 visitors your first month.
That is very good especially when you are doing
    free traffic methods.

80 percent of internet marketers are not getting
600 visitors to there website. (especially in there first month)

If you want more traffic fast then go the paid route.
Free Traffic Methods work but they take forever to get going.

Are you writing high quality articles that can be syndicated? The new kid on the block is article syndication. The article directories don't bring in traffic anymore or like they used to.

You have to write long, on the average 600 word or longer articles so that webmasters who visit these directories can republish your articles on their sites or send them to their list. These will drive a ton of traffic and give you much better links.

You also have to contact ezine publishers, bloggers, list owners directly to publish your articles.

Go through my threads I started. You will see a thread" article syndication and mass article submission. Any difference?" Go through the thread indepth and apply what you learn.

Also Kim Roach has a free e-book- 24 ways to drive traffic. Great book

Make sure that you are targeting buying keywords. I made the mistake when I was starting out selling affiliate products of targeting keywords that were high search volume and low competition but people were not interested in buying when they searched for those terms.

Other than that your traffic seems about on par for the work. Just remember that those articles and videos etc. will be out there forever (barring special circumstances) so you have a nice foundation already. Just keep building and that traffic should increase.

600 a month is consider good. I dare say that most people don't get that kind of traffic with 1 month old website.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I think it's too early yet to see the results of your efforts - I'm willing to bet that your traffic will grow over the next few months based on the articles/videos etc.. that you have put out in November as more of the back links are found and start to age.

The thing is that now you must keep up the velocity of your linking pattern so you need to be putting out almost as many articles/videos etc.. each month.

    Lee

Edit: Thats assuming you are targeting the right keywords, of course.

    Hello TNG2010,

your numbers look nice. For a new site and the amount of work you're putting in, you're doing just fine. Keep at it. Now do the same this month and keep doing it every month.

As you content starts to age and rank, you'll see some good things happen.
