Facebook social app help

I need some advice here. I hired a coder to add some fb social apps to my site. Everything works perfectly but I've since found out from another coder that the first guy should've provided me with the fb dev account details. Unfortunately, he's gone awol, so I feel my site could be at risk.

From what I've been told the original coder could remove the link via the fb dev account and stop the apps from working on my site. The new coder said it's fairly simple to fix. Just make a new fb dev account and change the ID in the site code and it should prevent the apps from being shut down from the first dev account. Is that how it works?

    Yes, you can do that to switch the Facebook account being used, but I would still suggest trying to get ahold of the original coder since not changing it would be safer.

      Forgive my ignorance here but could you explain why would not changing it would make it safer? I've tried to get in touch with the original coder several times but to no avail.
