The biggest thing I have noticed seems to be DIRECTION

Majority of human beings have the ability to be successful online.

Unfortunately majority of humans aren't willing to put in the focus, dedication, and persistence required to succeed.

Master one thing at a time and everything else starts becoming much easier

For me, it's time. I'm a stay@home mom to twins (3 years old) and they require a lot of time and energy. If I could focus on making money online 40 hours per week (using a standard work week as an example), I know I'd be a lot further than I am. But, my first job is and always will be the little people in my life, and as long as I am making progress, I am happy.

Elizabeth, I can understand how you feel completely, I am a single father to a beautiful but hyperactive 5 year old daughter, plus I am partially disabled. It is difficult to raise your children, and focus on making money, and your children will always be your priority.

However, I guess I am slightly luckier as my daughter is now at school full time, and I can dedicate myself more to building my business, but my baby will always be my first priority.

Keep being happy with progress and you will succeed.

I'm on disability so I have all the time at home I need, but I still can't understand the maze of traffic generation, pre-selling, list building or even effective CB account management.

I have the time and desire, but what I don't have is even a clue of where to start looking. All the 'training' courses I've found that claim to be able to help me through this, are priced out of my price range, and some even want monthly fees at that same high rate.

I have so many questions about what I'm doing wrong, or what I may be doing right without knowing it, it drives me nuts and I end up depressed and confused.

I'm sure most out there have been in a similar situation, it's just such a cycle... But I have no other choice, I have to make this work.

I know I'm in a situation where I have no excuse, as I have lots of time to focus and try to understand the details, they are just as foggy to me as 7th grade trig.

So, as stated above, "Direction" is the biggest thing.

The problem you are facing (and I was used to face) is "information overload". There are heaps of info out there claiming they are the best and can help you make money online quick. Unfortunately, only around maybe 10% of them are correct, 90% are rubbish.

What I think can help you is that you should look for a real guru (someone who has a proven success in the business. you can do this by googling "top affiliate marketers" for example) then join there coaching or training program. Do exactly what they ask you to do. They know what do work and what do not work. So just follow them. Get yourself focused and ignore all the other info. You will see the result soon.

Another thing that can help you is that you should change your mindset. You need to look at making money online as a business. If you want to enter into any kind of business, you need to invest some money. It's true.

As FitnessNut said, staying on task is my hardest thing. I get so interested in learning new platforms and methods that I find it really hard to stick to something for too long. It's been a problem I've been focusing on curing for quite a while now.

It seems to be a silent killer

I know a lot of you have heard this and will continue to ignore it (like I did far too long)

Yep, my problem was also just hopping from one project to the next rather than focus on one idea and slowly building it up.

I also find that writing for other IMers helps me learn the process of what others do to make their residual income so I can apply similar principles myself in the future.

Hey Sunny, the reason it's difficult for many to get page rank is because people tend to want to do the minimum amount of work and expect the maximum results. Keep in mind that the way Google determines page rank is by how many backlinks your page has. The more backlinks, the higher the page rank.

That being said, there are backlinks and there are backlinks with actual value. Additionally, the backlinks need to be indexed by Google, or Google doesn't know they exist, which is the same as no backlink.

What I have found helps my page rank is building a backlink and saving the link URL and keyword used as an anchor in an Excel spreadsheet. I then go back to the URL a few days later to check on whether or not the link stuck. If it did, I build links back to the link to my page. This gets them indexed by the big G.

Hope this helps. By the way, there are several really good WSOs dealing with backlinking techniques. I've purchased several and some of them were great, some not so good. If you're interested, I can let you know which ones worked best for me.

becoming a writer is a key to this business.

PR comes with time, lots of low quality backlinks / few quality backlinks should do a trick ;], more BL - higher page rank

in my own experience, getting few high quality natural looking backlinks works alot better than thousands of pr0 and pr1 low quality backlinks.

As always, one of the biggest challenges to internet marketers is SEO. For a newbie, it can be a very daunting task.

Many people want to wake up with a 7 figure income, and it is possible...after dedicating time and energy into your craft. SEO is the bedrock of any successful campaign. To have a solid foundation you should dedicate time to SEO, which includes the following:

    Article Marketing/ Syndication
    Keyword Mining / Density Checks
    Good copy that will convert
    Building your list

Nothing is easy, but with the right formula you very well can find internet marketing success like I have!

I'm self employed, but not commanding a regular decent income, although I feel I'm good at what I do - I've always worked in print design. But I have a 3 month year old daughter, and my family don't understand why I stare at a computer all day, don't have a job title and don't make money. Not my daughter she doesn't care :-p. I rely on my wife's business - and that doesn't feel good.

    So there's two things:

    1. Trying to do many different things at once.
    2. The apparent lack of support from those close to me, but it's understandable..

I could also use a mentor - not to show me how to make a quick buck, but to chat on skype and give encouragement! :-)

I have tried purchasing domains or posting links on answer sites and everything I can come up with. I have managed to create a handful of sites that are autoblogs and only get like 5k-10k page views monthly and a couple bucks every few days in adsense. I would literally work 8 hours a day if I knew a cookie cutter method that if I just grinded it out it would turn profitable but unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to break out and make even a little bit consistantly per day.

That said, if anyone here would be interested in guiding me on my path with what would lead to adsense earnings (I am willing to write articles and unique content, bookmark, post you name it all goddamn day) I would absolutely be willing to cut you a % of my profits so long as I am making them.

    Money

As I am new, and funds are very short these days. I am forced to rely on free/very low cost ads..

This means that my knowlage of things like SOE needs to be much more then it is.

I keep myself going with the idea that, If I can learn how to do it with very little money, then hay when I have some money to put into things I will do even better.

    Time, Practice and dedication.

I won't give up, and my challenge is money.

The flip side. I have read about lots of people who have lost so much money. I don't have the money to loose... heh..

    Mish

Though, I wa quite happy. I earned more then I spent this month in IM>.. That was very refreshing..

My biggest challenge has been, and will likely continue to be, a very hectic uni schedule. But now that I have a break, I suppose the hardest part, for someone new to IM like myself, is indeed direction. Knowing where to start, and how to proceed from there. I'm currently just running on common sense and gut instinct, and I don't know how well (if all) that will work. But thats why I'm here, and even just today, I've learnt a lot about IM that I didn't know before.

The most difficult part is time. I work a day job and doing that and internet marketing is difficult but it will grow. You need patients and dedication to make it work. Stay focus on completing one task at a time and try not to go here there and everywhere. It is easy with this type of biz because there are so much gurus. Stay on one program and if that does not work move on. Do not move on to new things half way.
