Is this a good strategy for autoresponders?

This is what I was thinking:
I will offer a free PDF for opting in. The PDF is about a certain number of mistakes in that niche.

I will talk about each mistake in the PDF but I will also tell them that each one of them will be deeper covered in future emails.

So this naturally leads to sending an email about each mistake covering it in more depth.

How does it sound?
Is the correlation between the PDF and the autoresponders good?
Is this going to:

If yes, how long should the emails be ? Is 500-600 words enough ?

The problem that I am thinking about is that my website is not all about mistakes, is about educating the reader about that niche so I think I should toss between the emails some broadcasts. Any opinions about this?

Your opt-in gift should position you as being an expert
in your niche and offer unique information that's of great
    benefit to the subscriber.

That's how you get people to pay attention to your
opt-in report and tune into your future e-mails.

If you're providing information they can easily get elsewhere,
then why would they continue to listen to you anymore?

I like the opt-in gift to be high impact and easily consumed
    by the subscriber right away.

So do you think that giving them a PDF with mistakes they make is not going to make me look as an expert or I didn't understand your message?

      Thanks!

Later Edit: I will make it about 5-6 pages long at most so I think it should be easily consumed by the subscriber.

You can demonstrate your expertise by articulating their
current mistakes more accurately than anyone else.

If you provide the subscriber with unique information
relating to solving the mistakes they're currently making,
        then that's fine.

However, if you're providing them with information and
solutions to their mistakes that they've already heard
before, then they've fewer reasons to continue to listen
        to you IMO.

So, provide them with really unique insights into their
mistakes and how you can solve them. This works well
because you lead them from their problem, to buying
YOUR unique solution - rather than someone elses.

Good idea. But 500 words of unique content for each mail can make you lose motivation when you have under 100 subscribers.

I'd share with people links to useful content and keeping your messages short and interesting.
