It looks like it was probably a dropped domain that already had page rank.

Yep, it was once the "National Table Tennis Federation of Honduras". Probably got a lot of back links for that.

I imagine that whoever owns it paid a lot of money for it. What a shame that it is totally unrelated to it's original use and stuffed full of meaningless, illiterate rubbish.

The owner is going to realise very quickly that it takes more than just a high PR to make money.

Judging off the owners lack of knowledge I doubt they even paid much for it:rolleyes:

Wow that is crazy...I am going to do a little research and get back to you.

Where did you come upon this?

Most likely due to the backlinks its receiving and possibly a very well aged domain. Like I said, going to check it out

I don't get what people are confused.

PR is nothing to do with website size, populariy, quality or anything else.

    It's purely about LINKS!!!

A one page site with junk content can have a high PR.

    nothing to see here.

      Completely right!
(although incoming link quality is very important the site quality means nothing)

Strange thing is, as I use a few tools to look at the sites incoming links I don't see anything particularly special

      • PR has to do with site quality inasmuch as people will not rave about your content and want to link to it if your site is full of crapola.

Sure, you can buy links all day long. I contend the best links are those that are voluntarily made to your site because other people appreciate it as a valuable resource. Buying links only gets you so far and no farther.

You can hardly argue the extremely low quality of that website.

It's safe to ascertain that the quality of the website has very little to do with pr, seeing that the website has a current PR9

Who said anything about buying links?

And even if we were talking about buying links - the point is, PR IS ALL ABOUT LINKS. Whether you bought them or not is irrelevant.

I can understand what you're saying about 'nice' links from sites that love your content and want to link to you being worth having - I doubt anyone would argue that. But they're not necessary AT ALL as far as PR and SERPS are concerned.

Your site can suck and you can still outrank a great site full of excellent content.

I searched about the domain and found one post in digitalpoint that sells it for $2500. Although the user selling it is already banned.

Curious, the home page has a PR9, but do you think the posts will get link juice trickled down from the home page eventually?

if you guys check whois, obviously, the previous owner forgot to renew it on August 29, 2011, and let it expired on Nov. 29, 2011. Someone snipered it on Nov. 29, 2011, and luckily got it on that day, and put up a wordpress site.

he may got it for just $10. from this, I would say, good job.
