I'll soon be making a List - Niche?

I will be creating a list soon. I've been wondering for the past hour (haven't put great thought into it yet, it's just been floating around up there :rolleyes what are common niches?

The type of list I want to build is a list in a niche where people want information very bad. I started to think weight loss, this would be great because I know a lot about losing weight. There's a problem with this, I also want to create a list for the long term, I want to be able to continue to sell for them. As I began to think, there's not many big niches that can do this.

For example, I thought about weight loss. If I give them all of these free ebooks on how to lose weight fast, and it works, why would they buy the product that I end up promoting? Same with the other way around, If I give them lots of good quality ebooks, but they don't work, why would they buy the product that I'm promoting?

I thought about this because of the emails that I get in the Money Making Niche, even as far as WSO's go. If I buy this WSO from you and it has a guarantee on it, and it doesn't work for me, I probably won't be buying from you again. At the same time, if I buy this WSO from you, and it does work, I probably won't need to buy from you again.

Are there any Niches that get around this? That I can continue promoting products to? Just throw out anything, this is just to get my brain working so I can figure out and settle down with a specific niche that I will be able to promote to for years.

I think Weight Loss would work. You need to be very specific. Weight Loss is a huge category. You can find lots of niches within that category.

    For example:

Losing weight eating organic food only
Losing weight with fruits and vegetables
How to burn more calories while taking a simple walk

That's just a start, but I imagine if you do some research and brainstorming, you could come up with 100's of very specific article/eBook ideas about weight loss.

I don't think that the problem you identify necessarily means a niche isn't profitable. Even if individuals are only interested in the niche for a short period of time, as long as people are continually joining the list it will still have a lot of activity. There are always going to be people looking to lose weight.

Niches that focus on a hobby would be one way to get around this. If you're interested in skiing, for example, you'll be interested in information about that topic for a number of years.

It's good that you're thinking about developing a long term relationship with your list. What you will find in weight loss, and most other markets that have some depth and breadth is that people will buy multiple products.

You are not likely to sell a weight loss product and that product be so comprehensive that people will never buy another weight loss product again.

Plus, if you know your target market, they will not only consume weight loss products, they will consume other products as well...ie. a weight loss for women over 35 product could be sold anything from antiaging, skin care, fashion.

I've been really happy in building lists in niches that I'm passionate about. There is nothing like connecting with others that share the same common interests. It's not just about money or having huge lists - sometimes is just about making that connection with another person.

Go after what you love most and you won't be disappointed.
