this is how clickbank.com looked like in 1999

see here: WWW.CLICKBANK.COM: ClickBank Link Security Services

and this is how links used to look like back then... http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?AFFILIATE/SELLER

You can even see the marketplace. it's very interesting.

This is a sales page I found on the marketplace: Submit 3000 (very shorter that today's pages)

And this is another sales page: "Chicago Man Reveals Web Marketing Secrets!" the domain is www.wso.net it is probably the first WSO ever. "Chicago Man Reveals Web Marketing Secrets - Backs Up Offer With Money Back Guarantee" says in the title.

I also noticed commisions used to be 20-50%.

Hopefully in 2019 there will be less hype about making money online and internet marketing.

The way back machine is a great tool.

I can still remember the good times around 1998 when I discovered the Internet. Web pages were mostly simple and I even out up my own using Microsoft FrontPage and uploaded them to Geocities or Angelfire. I remembered being extremely happy for putting up my own simple webpage with my scanned picture on it.

This takes me back. Spending a weekend putting a site together with front page, and being so happy that the links actually worked. lol

Geosites also. EVERYONE tried to use them. Really takes me back

Thanks for the share. It's interesting to see how it looked back in the day when Clickbank first started out.

...Goes to show even massive companies like Clickbank had to start somewhere.

It's funny how with pages like that WSO, the design and appeal of it were relatively primitive but all of the selling techniques are the exact same as they are today.

    They'll probably never change!

    Those were the days...

Now you need knockout web design, sales copy etc... to compete on Clickbank!

Although come to think of it there were nowhere as near many people online back then!

SO cool. The other day I checked out Clickbank on the old way back machine, and that's what I found too, but - I'm impressed by those 2 examples of sales pages.

The first one especially. Back links have always been big business apparently, but there is a lot more that we know today about building back links. Pretty cool to see what the offer was then - pretty sad to go on a site like Fiverr and see people still doing this kind of business/people buying into it, when it doesn't work as well now without the right kind of links, pattern, structure, etc.

I wish I could have gone back in time - I could have done one better then

Oh, at the top there is a link for an old optin form kind of thing. When you try to subscribe, an old version pops up (at least in Windows) that opened my outlook express with an outdated form of an auto responder. I guess we have come a long way.
