I'm sorry for the noob question, as I'm still a newbie here. I've read around and got some WSOs, but I have this question. How does list buying work? To my understanding, you cannot possibly add people to lists without them subscribing or opting in to your list. What use do you have in buying lists then? As far as I can tell, there is no way to transfer lists from one autoresponder account to another.

There is a way with certain autoresponders.

However - as for buying lists - No - No - No - No - No - No - No - No - No - No and NO!

No? It seems to be an accepted practice around here, with dozens of threads about list buying/JV sharing. How do they make it work?

I am sorry, i actually thought you meant buying a list - Which is a No-no!

However, JV is lots of things. In list building, its called solo ads. You find someone who has a list that they are letting someone buy clicks (visitors) from them, then they basically show your squeeze page to those visitors, and those people have an option to either subscribe to your list, or leave.

    Well, thats the basics anyway.

George is right. Buying lists is a big no no. But showing your add to their lists is a completely different thing.

You can use pop up or squeeze page in list building. But make sure you provide useful freebies in exchange to their email address.

I already know that, but I don't know where to start. Obviously I'll need websites with good traffic to create pop-ups and on, but wouldn't that take time?

Isn't there a way to build a list that I can start on right now?

I have actually bought lists by taking over the owner's list
    AND autoresponder account.

We sent an email to existing subscribers explaining that the
former owner was moving on to something else, and that I
was taking over the list, and would continue providing great
    content.

I've had great luck with that... with VERY few people
unsubscribing, and I always got back many times my investment.

I would never buy a database and add it to my autoresponder,
although years ago, that was very common. Most autoresponder
companies won't let you do that now, and many web hosting
companies explicitly prohibit it in their terms of service.

      Hi,

Willie is 100% correct on this, if you are buying a list, make sure you get the autoresponder logins as well, don't buy the database, there is a risk of the database being sold over and over again by the list owner, which is immoral/illegal

However, if you are planning on buying any lists, my advice would be not to do so. No one will sell you a good list, if it's good, then why are they selling it?

I once brought a list and got messed up big time..

Build your own, it's the best thing to do.

      Things you need to consider..

      Cheers!

Again Buying a list is NO
You can JV with who have similar kind & volume of list and do a combined promotion. That would be more healthy and result oriented.

Also make sure you JV with similar kind of list owners.

Never ever think to buy a list because they are not responsive as well as just JUNK!

Think yourself- If their list is good then why they are selling it? Why dont they make money from it themselves?

I hope it clears my points !
