Format: E-Book vs Video Series

Just a fun question to ask to all fellow warriors.

Upon subrscribing to a squeeze page, do you prefer your bribe to be in E-book format or Video format? and do you typically expect to be able and download your bribe or do you want to just view it on a webpage?

For those of you who have squeeze pages and have tried both, which one "works" best?

Thanks for any replies,
regZ

I prefer to be bribed with cash money...or women.

When I subscribe to a list I would prefer that it was in ebook format. Perhaps I'm just weird; but I absolutely hate video series when it comes to wanting to learn something. I like to have things right in front of me, spelled out plain and simple, without some annoying or nasally voice narrating to me.

Also, I prefer to be able to download the free gift, that way it is right there in the appropriate folder and easy to pull up. I guess I could bookmark a webpage too...nah.

My only reason to opt-in to squeeze pages is to observe the marketing style of the individual. As a result, I don't really care whether its ebook or video. I don't expect to learn anything anymore, I just want to see how the marketer uses his or her squeeze, oto, and autoresponder sequence.

I typically don't deal in video so can't claim to have tested both. I suspect the the results of such testing might be heavily influenced by the niches themselves, the customer demographics within each niche, and indeed one's own personal target demographic. In other words, there's no universal answer as to what's best, so even if people describe their experiences of what's worked best for them, it'll probably mean very little to you.

I must say, my own personal preference is text. Whether it be in the form of an email series, a PDF or whatever. Unless video lends itself infinitely better to a particular purpose, or is particularly necessary, I'd always rather have text. But that's just me.

Just split test between e-book or video. That's the answer for you.

I've tried both individually and together. The best results are both modalities offered together if possible. The worst results were just an e-book... better with videos as long as you are an engaging presenter and the videos are short and concise... best with videos and then slides or step-by-step instructions underneath available for download. Most of the newer recording programs will automatically create captions for your that you can translate into text and offer as text under the video.

    Thanks for all the replies;

I should have been more specific but all is well.

What I want to deliver in my bribe is info on a subject. I have done E-Books as a bribe but was wondering on somefeedback if it was worth doing video format aswell.

It seems though that all of you prefer to stick to the traditional E-Book. Nonetheless thanks Vince for the idea on offering both - something so simple yet easily avoided.

    Thanks,

Give them the option to choose which one they want.

I always try to transcribe my videos to text and vice versa, even for some simple things like blog posts.

Some people prefer to have a human element involved and a demonstration through video. Others would rather go at their own pace and be able to browse through an ebook to get only the info that they need and not have to listen to the rest of the presentation (impossible to do with video).

Testing is the only way to know for sure. While each individual will have a different preference, you can usually find some commonalities and patterns with a specific niche or demographic.

One last thing - don't be afraid to simply ask your list! Present it as "I only want to send you what you want to receive. Would you prefer your info sent through video or text?" You could maybe even give them a small incentive for their feedback.

    Best of luck.

Both work, but video has a higher perceived value. As others have suggested, split test and see which one works for you.

I ditto the folks above that tell you to offer both. Some people love video and hate text and vice-versa. This way you have your bases covered.

I'm totally biased, but I like video if it's done well, to actually see the stuff that's being talked about rather than just powerpoint videos. eg for a fitness product.

Also there's definitely a growing and hungry for video audience with tablets out there who according to stats watch more video than desktop users. Totally agree though some subjects just work better as ebooks.
