Website Sale: Out of Network

Hello,

I am selling a site on a site selling network and the auction is about to end today.

I was contacted by a buyer who says he will buy the site straight from me for a little less than the buy it now price a little over the buy it now price.

The total transaction will be about $2700.

He says he will agree to pay via credit card and my paypal account.

He will also agree to wait for paypal funds to clear paypal and then for the money to be transferred to my account before I finally push him the domain.

I am sending him an agreement of sale in this regard.

Anyone see a way for me to get ripped off not staying in selling my site outside of the "F" market place?

    Hi

You should definitely use escrow for a transaction that large.

Using CC/PayPal, even if you wait for the transaction to clear, allows the buyer to come back and file a PayPal dispute. PayPal rarely takes the seller's side in domain sale disputes so you could be out your domain and money.

There have been a few horror stories in the forums here.

PS If he is offering some "incentive" like more money or quick sale to get you to conduct the transaction outside of the auction site or other normal avenues, that is a big FLAG that he could be a scammer.
