Online "tip jar" or "buy me a beer" results?

For an article I'm writing, I wonder if anyone who has a "tip jar" or "buy me a beer" button on your blog or beer would care to share how much $$ it brings in. Feel free to send me the info by private message - or post it here.

My suspicion is that it would be enough to buy a couple of beers a month or year - but I could be way off on this.

Thanks,
Marcia Yudkin

It pays in direct relation to the amount of sales your service produces, since the more people come across your offer the more conversions you'll make.

Thus we can only speculate on the extra income it will produce for you and such a speculation would prove a pointless lesson.

Personally, I do not ask for donations but I've seen several successful Fiverr vendors who do, when they complete the gig they suggest if you've found it particularly useful you can use their "tip gig" to donate a tip.

This proves far more effective than simply having a donate button on your site since your clients will see it when they're (hopefully!) happy from your originally provided service thus much more likely to be in a buying mode/wanting to thank you.

Picture youself browsing a website - you come across a "donate to my beer fund" button yet:

    A) You don't know them
    B) You've never used their service

The answer is simple - probably not. In fact you might even be irritated that they asked loosing a potential client altogether!

However if you have brought from them, your more than satisfied then you see a gentle selling message to donate or tip you'd likely do it.

P.S. Did you know the Warrior forum used to have the option to add a "buy me a beer" on your posts!

I have had a few beers from an old personal blog of mine, but these were mainly from past regulars of my bar and restaurant which the blog was set up for originally.

I added a tip jar gig on Fiverr a couple of weeks back and have had quite a few people throw a $5 in that

EDIT: Would it be against the sig rules to put a beer bottle image linked to be a paypal button?

My "Darklock Liquor Fund" link in my signature has generated about $200 so far. About $30-$40 a month, on average.

I agree with your take on that scenario, but there are many other scenarios, particularly if you have a content-rich web site or blog, where a lot of people come regularly to read or have a one-time readfest, yet aren't inspired to buy. Some of those people would contribute to a tip jar, I'm guessing. That's quite different from a tip on a service rendered.

@CDarklock - you should probably read Kinsvater's advice in this thread http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...te-button.html

Maybe change from a donate button to a purchase button
