Thinking of Making Quick Cash Selling Your Stuff on Ebay? Think Again
It has probably been a couple months before I last sold anything, but recently my son wanted to earn some extra money for Christmas. So I told him we could sell is old video games on ebay.
He sold one. Great huh? Not really. Here I find out we will no longer get paid for the purchases right away like it was the last time I sold something on ebay. You will only get paid after the person receives the product. Ebay estimates that he will get paid on December 26th, 21 days after he sold his game.
There are ways to get payment quicker such as paying for shipping through ebay, which is overpriced, and also using shipping confirmation, but you still have to wait until it is delivered.
So, I'll have to pay shipping costs out of pocket before even getting money for the purchase of the game, and the money to cover the shipping. It isn't much, but I still shouldn't have to do it this way.
This applies to anyway who they consider "high risk"
Payments from your buyers will generally be available immediately:
- It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale and
- You've had more than 25 sales transactions and
- You've had more than $250 in total sales
- Your seller performance rating is "standard" or above.
So basically this is just letting anyone that is new to ebay or hasn't sold a lot, ebay is not the place to go if you are looking to make some quick money off your used stuff.
Ebay is great as a buyer, but as a seller I think not.
