Buy Solo Ads from ListJoe - Is it effective?

Hi everyone,

I want to quickly build my list and I am thinking of buying a solo ads from ListJoe.com so that I can send a mailing to around 82,000 active members. If I spend $100, I can send two mailings to the entire group mentioned above.

I do not know whether that will be effective or not?

What's your opinion about that?

Save your money. I tried it a while ago when I first started building a list and it did nothing. I didn't expect much but I figured why not. It sent 5,000 emails to a squeeze page and no opt ins. It was a squeeze page that ended up doing quite well apart from that list too.

The only reason why people even open the emails is to get more credits for themselves. If you're going to spend money go after a legitimate solo ad. With more quality rather than quantity.

      Thanks B and B,

Would you mind recommending me some good quality solo ad?

      I agree...Save your money.

You can find more reliable solo ad sources at places
like Charlie Page Directory Of Ezines.

Its very reliable source it has been around for years.

Remember too always track your ads to see how effective
      that source is.

Charlie is a great guy, and I have been using this directory to both look for solo ads in different niches and also syndicate some high quality content. Dunno about ListJoe, but DOE is a good investment in my eyes.

Any mailing system is only as good as the ads used and the responsiveness of the prospects to the mailings.

If you are looking for a better place to advertise, try looking at why people are on those lists.

If people are on the list, because they love reading that list, then it will perform as well as your ad will allow it to perform.

Hello my two cents is NO it did not and I bought a "bundle" Package that ran my solo ad for two weeks straight but I felt like I was the only one that may have gotten the email! There are alot of these safelists and viral list memberships that do not do what they claim to do. I find that everyone is sending to everyone and they are in businesses for themselves as well.....they are not looking to join something else...sorry but no responses from Listjoe, lead magnet, pro marketer Ezine, Webstars Ezine News, Vital Ad Views, Herculist, Adtactics Safelist, click tract profit, safelist XL, Just Click Six to name a few off the top of my head. I have tweeted and tested ads and to this date nothing.......most are just clicking to get the credits for their own businesses to be viewed. This is weekly and daily sending ....not send one time either.

The problem with most of those lists is that most people subscribe with a "drop email box", an email box they use only to sign up to programs so they can advertise to others.

The trick is finding a mailing list where people subscribe to it to read the email it sends out...

    Hint: Newsletters.

    Hi there,

I would always advise against buying solo ads from places like List Joe as people are only interested in building their own credits in most cases, as has already been stated.

I would advise going to safe-swpas.com, and take a look on there for a decent solo ad provider. Please correct me if I'm wrong, don't the solo ad sellers there points or some other sort of thing to prove they are quality providers?

If you have a free report relating to list building or traffic generation that you know converts well and know the metrics of your marketing funnel then yes it would be worth it.

If you don't know your metrics buying any sort of solo advert from anywhere would be a massive risk. I know that on average my squeezepage will convert at 2% across a wide variety of safelists. I then know how many will buy my report on safelist marketing, join the programmes on the download page, or buy from the follow-up series.

With these numbers I know if I can afford to buy upgrades / solo adverts.

Ultimately the only way to know is to track and test for yourself.

List Joe is as good as any other generic solo list. Look at it's audience.

Mostly people who have very little knowledge in how to get traffic to a site or squeeze. If you can offer free traffic to them, it will normally get them signed up to a list that can then be funneled.

Also, the people on these sites normally have very little budget to work with. I mean face it, if you have the budget, are you clicking 2000 emails a week just to get hits?

Instead of selling to them, try to set them up selling for you.

I have not had good results with ListJoe for the same reasons the other warriors mention above. However, I have had very good results with a few other list builders. So for me they are not all the same. Like anything, it can depend on your offer.

You can actually purchase login ads from many of them without being a paid member or even sending a single email. So members will whatever squeeze page you desire before they can login.

I would save your money...people get so many of those emails everyday that they do not get read, besides the fact that the other marketers are all trying to get the opt in just like you are and don't particularly want to get on every else's list.

Definitely stay away from those solo ads for a couple reasons.

    1. People don't visit your page because they want it, they are trying to earn credits.

    2. Even if you do get some subscribers, they are NOT the type of people you want on your list. They are freebie seekers, trying to get as much as they can for nothing.

As far as good solo ads, there are a ton of great options right here on this forum if you do a search. Make sure you do some homework, ask for testimonies etc to make sure you get the most out of your ad. (Obviously this depends a lot on your copy and landing page)

Look up Reed Floren's solo ad directory.

A lot of people on safe-swaps also offer solo ads.

You should always be looking for targeted traffic, and idealy people that are pre-qualified to want what you have to offer, and be willing to pay for it!

I have tried this in the past and would say save your money you would be better using safe swaps as they have a choice of list owners which means you can specifiy your niche and buy an email gig with someone who has great reviews and a receptive list.Hope everything goes ok for you.

Try safe-swaps.com and the directory of ezines by Charlie page.

Safe-swaps has a rating system in place, so that helps a lot.

    Goo luck!
