Does anyone else think WF should move over to using 'FB Likes' in place of 'thanks'?

You'd still get to see the 'like counts' in the threads (using some widget code) - so, you'd see who the super helpful Warriors are - but it'd surely give the forum threads greater reach.

Just sayin'

I don't think Facebook should be dragged into everything personally but from a marketing standpoint it could hold value.

This thread was started on exactly the same subject 6 days ago.

The admin did actually try something very similar but abandoned it. I also think admin may have come up with this idea before the OP did, he's a smart chap you know.

Have a read of the thread, it answers pretty much all your questions and you'll see why it's not implemented.

I don't think I'd want a change like that. I like to keep my personal and business life separate. I don't post promotions for my company on my personal profile simply because I can't stand when other people do it all the time. Just my personal preference.

I think not having fb here is better. I really do like it this way.

    Hi Rich,

You've been here for over three years and apparently you've yet to come across a post that you've found helpful. In other words, you've never clicked your thanks button. Is that because you're waiting for it to turn into a "like" button?

As long as we're making suggestions...

I'd like the option to cash in our "thanks" count for prizes, like colorful kazoos and twirly drinking straws and brown paper packages tied up with string.

    Cheers,
    Becky

The social dynamics and political economics of "thanks" are very different from those of "likes."

You cannot "thank" a post unless you are a registered member with a certain number of posts, and you are only allowed to "thank" so many posts a day.

Meanwhile, any jackhole with an internet connection can "like" things, and you can buy "likes" by the thousands at fiverr.

So no, I don't think we should replace meaningful community feedback with pointless third-party crap.

I would like a "like" button and keep the "thanks" button.

I would not however want that "like" button tied to facebook, just something for this forum and able to be used by members only with unlimited number of likes allowed.

A nice idea could be where the user can enter their page id and the likes to their posts are counted towards that page. But then again, CDarklock is right.
